During a speech in Philadelphia,\u2064 President Biden voiced\u200b worries about retaining black voter support, emphasizing \u200bTrump&#8217;s\u2064 strategies targeting minority groups. Biden&#8217;s outreach to black voters showcased the uphill \u2064battle \u200dhe encounters, \u2062notably\u200d in\u2062 swing states\u2064 where Trump is making advances. Douglas Golden<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   May 30, 2024 at 7:40am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>The Democrats\u2019 worst fear for 2024 is, by all appearances, happening: Not only is President Joe Biden losing to Donald Trump in the polls, but he\u2019s also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/poll-biden-losing-support-from-voters-in-85-battleground-districts\/\" title=\"Poll: Biden losing support from voters in 85 battleground districts\">losing support<\/a> among black voters.<\/p>\n<p>Mind you, he\u2019s still leading \u2014 but hardly by as much as he was in the 2020 campaign. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2023-12-22\/election-2024-trump-campaign-attracts-black-voters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bloomberg<\/a> report from December found that polls showed Trump getting from between 14 percent and 30 percent of the black vote.<\/p>\n<p>Considering that surveys showed him winning anywhere between 5 to 12 percent in 2020, a shift of that magnitude \u2014 particularly in swing states with major urban areas \u2014 would be enough to make victory even more difficult for the incumbent.<\/p>\n<p>So you know what time it is: Time for Joe \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/joe-biden-absurdly-claims-jim-crow-sneaking-back-railing-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gonna Put Y\u2019all Back in Chains<\/a>\u201d Biden to start race-baiting in front of minority audiences.<\/p>\n<p>During a Wednesday speech \u2014 more of a rant, really \u2014 on black issues to a crowd in Philadelphia, Biden said that Trump was \u201cpandering and peddling lies and stereotypes for your vote,\u201d then proceeded to quote <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/cal-thomas-rarely-hear-democrats-talk-african-americans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maya Angelou<\/a>, insisted that Trump wouldn\u2019t be talking about pardoning Jan. 6 defendants facing onerous sentences if they were black, and said the former president was \u201cthe same guy who wanted to tear gas you as you peacefully protested George Floyd\u2019s murder.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>No stereotyping or pandering there, though. Just Joe tellin\u2019 it like it is.<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s Philadelphia speech, delivered with several members of the Congressional Black Caucus in attendance and with Vice President Kamala Harris delivering the opening remarks, made no bones about the fact that the ticket was begging and pleading with black voters to pick their side and show up in November.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the fact that Pennsylvania ought to be the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/pennsylvania-voter-ditching-biden-2024-cant-afford-four-years\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">easiest swing state<\/a> for Biden to carry in November \u2014 hailing from Delaware, which is largely suburban Philadelphia, Biden was often called \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/story\/2008\/08\/sen-joe-biden-d-scranton-012955\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pennsylvania\u2019s third senator<\/a>\u201d due to how closely his interests aligned with the state\u2019s \u2014 Biden currently trails Trump there by 2.3 points in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolling.com\/polls\/president\/general\/2024\/pennsylvania\/trump-vs-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RealClearPolitics<\/a> polling aggregate as of Thursday morning.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Will Biden lose to Trump?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Thus, the racial resentment was laid on thick and deep without any attempt to conceal it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet me ask you, what do you think he would\u2019ve done on Jan. 6 if black Americans had stormed it?\u201d Biden said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThink about this: What do you think would have happened if black Americans had stormed the Capitol? I don\u2019t think he\u2019d be talking about pardons.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He went on to call <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/black-americans-turning-biden-home-state-donald-trump-want\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump<\/a> \u201cthe same guy who wanted to tear gas you as you peacefully protested George Floyd\u2019s murder. The same guy who still calls the Central Park Five \u2018guilty,\u2019 even though they were exonerated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s that landlord who denies housing applications because of the color of your skin,\u201d Biden continued. \u201cHe\u2019s that guy who won\u2019t say \u2018black lives matter\u2019 and invokes neo-Nazi, Third Reich terms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd we all remember Trump is the same guy who unleashed birtherism \u2014 the birtherism lie against Barack,\u201d Biden said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd then Trump tells you he\u2019s the greatest president \u2014 I love this one. He says he\u2019s the greatest president for black people in the history of America, including more than Abraham Lincoln,\u201d he added, making the sign of the cross. \u201cI mean, can you fathom that? Where in the hell \u2014 like I said, I think he injected too much of that bleach in his skin. I think it affected his brain.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Then came the Angelou moment, because of course there was one: \u201cMaya Angelou said, \u2018When someone shows you who they are\u2019 \u2013\u201c<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBelieve them!\u201d the crowd responded.<\/p>\n<p> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UgPmGcuPKjY?si=EFNsPWzzVBtIlc9D&#038;start=1732\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve shown you who I am, and Trump has shown you who he is. And today, Donald Trump is pandering and peddling lies and stereotypes for your votes, so he can win for himself, not for you,\u201d Biden added.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s virtually impossible to go through that farrago of lies line by line; suffice it to say that, when the choice is between Trump and a guy who was called out for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/mere-hours-announcement-wapo-scrambles-claim-harris-didnt-actually-call-biden-racist\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">his association with segregationist Dixiecrats<\/a> \u2014 and bragging about it during the 2020 campaign \u2014 by the very woman he chose to be his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hunter-biden-defector-emails-pipeline-to-obama-admin-seen-as-currency\/\" title=\"Hunter Biden Defector Emails: 'Pipeline' to Obama Admin Seen as 'Currency'\">vice president<\/a> on a primary debate stage, they might not see too much of a difference between the caricature that Biden is painting.<\/p>\n<p>Rest assured that most of it was wrong in some way, shape or form. Trump didn\u2019t birth \u201cbirtherism,\u201d the theory that Barack Obama\u2019s birth certificate was illegitimate and that he was born overseas. He wasn\u2019t the same guy who wanted people tear gassed for peaceful protests; he wanted law enforcement to tame the riots that liberals were fond of calling \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/cnn-mocked-labeling-kenosha-mostly-peaceful-footage-showed-opposite\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fiery but mostly peaceful protests<\/a>,\u201d when pretty much every word after the first one was false.<\/p>\n<p>He does not invoke \u201cneo-Nazi, Third Reich terms,\u201d as much as the White House has tried to push that lie on the scantest of evidence. Trump has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2020\/09\/17\/trump-black-lives-matter-1619-project-417162\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>said<\/em><\/a>  \u201cblack lives matter,\u201d but he refuses to give into \u201cBlack Lives Matter\u201d; those who don\u2019t know the difference between an anodyne, meaningless phrase and a movement comprised of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/marxist-blm-co-founder-bought-4-homes-rejects-hypocrisy-says-supporting-family\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Marxist grifters<\/a> are willfully blind at this point.<\/p>\n<p>As for that line about \u201cI don\u2019t think he\u2019d be talking about pardons\u201d if those involved in the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol incursion were black \u2014 as they might say at Wikipedia,[[<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wikipedia:Citation_needed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">citation needed<\/a>].<\/p>\n<p>Trump has never mentioned race in respect to Jan. 6. Biden, instead, is the one who has brought it up. While most of those charged with the incursion were white, 1.4 percent were black and a further 5.4 percent were Hispanic, according to a review by the <a href=\"https:\/\/law.shu.edu\/news\/a-demographic-and-legal-profile-of-january-6-prosecutions.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Seton Hall University School of Law<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>When Trump talks about those who have faced disproportionate punishment over their role in the events of that day, has he ever said, \u201c\u2026 but only the white people get a pardon\u201d? No, of course not; that this is what Biden is explicitly claiming is coming out of Trump\u2019s mouth doesn\u2019t stand up under the slightest bit of scrutiny, nor was it designed to do so.<\/p>\n<p>This, instead, is designed to do exactly like what it looks like it\u2019s designed to do: to shamelessly keep black voters coming to the polls and voting Democratic using the most pandering, infantilizing methods of ingratiating himself.
