The attorney general cited \u2064a lack of evidence and confirmed Scheffler&#8217;s account of a misunderstanding. The incident\u200c stemmed from\u200b Scheffler&#8217;s attempt to access a golf club during a traffic delay \u200cbut received conflicting instructions from police.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/golf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scottie Scheffler<\/a> and his attorney celebrated on Wednesday news that prosecutors in Kentucky were dropping all charges against the world\u2019s No.1-ranked golfer.<\/p>\n<p>The four criminal charges against Scheffler, including a felony assault charge, were all dropped after Jefferson County (KY) Attorney Mike O\u2019Connell said that his office cannot move forward with the prosecution and that Scheffler\u2019s account of the incident \u2014 that it was a \u201cbig misunderstanding\u201d \u2014 was \u201ccorroborated by the evidence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 27-year-old golfer was arrested on May 17 after he attempted to drive into the Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, to prepare for the second round of the PGA Championship. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/jeremy-renner-gives-fans-update-two-months-after-snow-plow-accident\/\" title=\"Jeremy Renner Gives Fans Update Two Months After Snow Plow Accident\">fatal accident involving<\/a> a pedestrian had stopped traffic, preventing Scheffler and other golfers from getting to the golf club\u2019s entrance, but Scheffler said he was told by a police officer to drive \u201cthe opposite way with the traffic\u201d to get into the golf club.<\/p>\n<p>Moments later, another officer with the Louisville Police Department, Detective Bryan Gillis, reportedly told Scheffler to stop his vehicle. Scheffler was accused of failing to come to a stop, and police claimed the golfer \u201cdragged\u201d Gillis when he continued to drive forward. After Scheffler stopped his car, the golfer was arrested and taken to jail where he was charged with second-degree assault of a police officer, third<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/portland-charges-suspected-antifa-members-for-riot-that-damaged-democratic-party-headquarters\/\" title=\"Portland Charges Suspected Antifa Members For Riot That Damaged Democratic Party Headquarters\">-degree criminal mischief<\/a>, reckless driving, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/menendezs-wife-hit-and-killed-man-with-her-car-in-2018\/\" title=\"In 2018, Menendez's wife fatally struck a man with her car.\">disregarding traffic signals<\/a> from an officer directing traffic.<\/p>\n<p>Scheffler responded to the news in a statement saying that it was a \u201cmisfortunate understanding\u201d and that he held no ill will toward the arresting officer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wish to put this incident behind me and move on, and I hope he will do the same,\u201d Scheffler said. \u201cPolice officers have a difficult job and I hold them in high regard.
