Emmanuel<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   May 29, 2024 at 1:42pm <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>The jury is now deliberating on the first-ever criminal trial in history of a former president of the United States.<\/p>\n<p>And by every account, this case has displayed the most egregious use of lawfare against a political opponent the nation has ever seen.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Judge Juan Merchan, who is overseeing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-attorney-may-be-limited-in-defense-after-texts-with-stormy-daniels-handed-over-to-da-report\/\" title=\"Trump attorney may be limited in defense after texts with Stormy Daniels handed over to DA: Report\">hush-money case<\/a> against the former president in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-manhattan-da-demands-gag-order-trump-ahead-upcoming-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Manhattan<\/a>, disclosed that his daughter, Loren Merchan, is president of Authentic Campaigns, a digital consulting firm that has worked on the campaigns of President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and other prominent Democrats, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/04\/06\/politics\/trump-judge-daughter-attacks-explainer\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to CNN.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Two Democratic clients of Loren Merchan raised over $90 million, partly by using Trump\u2019s case in their solicitation emails, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/03\/30\/us-news\/dem-clients-of-daughter-of-judge-in-trump-trial-raised-90m-off-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Post.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>However, Merchan refused to recuse himself from the case.<\/p>\n<p>Not only that, but he has also continuously undermined Trump\u2019s defense with his rulings and instructions.<\/p>\n<p>Renowned lawyer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/epstein-lawyer-alan-dershowitz-confronted-sean-hannity-allegations-court-documents\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alan Dershowitz<\/a> wrote last week in the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/05\/21\/opinion\/i-was-inside-the-court-when-the-judge-closed-the-trump-trial-and-what-i-saw-shocked-me\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Post<\/a>, \u201cIn my 60 years as a lawyer and law professor, I have never seen a spectacle such as the one I observed sitting in the front row of the courthouse yesterday. The judge in Donald Trump\u2019s trial was an absolute tyrant, though he appeared to the jury to be a benevolent despot. He seemed automatically to be ruling against the defendant at every turn.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But the final instructions to the jury by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/fec-expert-witness-whose-testimony-denied-merchan-reveals-said-trump-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Merchan<\/a> take both the cake and the bakery and strip the proceedings of any facade of fairness \u2014 not that there was much of that to begin with.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, Merchan determined that jurors will not need to unanimously agree on the underlying crime motivating the alleged falsification of business records Trump is accused of, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/live-updates\/2024\/05\/21\/trump-hush-money-criminal-trial\/no-unanimity-needed-for-predicate-crimes-00159225\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to Politico. <\/a><\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>If Trump loses, will the Supreme Court overturn Merchan\u2019s kangaroo court decision?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Merchan rejected arguments from Trump\u2019s defense team that all 12 jurors should have to agree on what underlying crime Trump was trying to cover up through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-trial-prosecutors-compare-cohen-to-tour-guide-for-hush-money-crimes\/\" title=\"Trump trial: Prosecutors liken Cohen to a 'tour guide' for hush money crimes\">alleged falsified records<\/a>, which is a felony in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/secret-service-meets-new-york-jail-officials-trump-trial-draws-close-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe said that there\u2019s no need to agree on what has occurred,\u201d Fox News\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/harris-faulkner-retells-story-booted-restaurant-dont-deserve-money-anyway\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Harris Faulkner<\/a> read out as she received the breaking news. \u201cThey can disagree on what the crime was, among the three choices. Intent does not require an intent to defraud any particular person or [entity], but a general intent to defraud,\u201d the judge told the jury, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/jury-instructions-conclude-trumps-nyc-criminal-trial-heres-what-jury-told?intcmp=tw_pols\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to Fox News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Satirist Kyle Mann, who writes for the parody site The Babylon Bee, highlighted an eerie convergence of comedy and reality. Mann noted that the Bee had previously published a satirical comic that foreshadowed, almost prophetically, the scenario now unfolding. I don\u2019t think he\u2019s smart enough to think about it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut it\u2019s the people that surround him in the office,\u201d he added. \u201cThey\u2019re smart. They\u2019re facists, they\u2019re communists, but they\u2019re smart, and they\u2019re ruining our country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump is right.
