This person then told me that if my God didn\u2019t want me to date him, then he didn\u2019t want anything to do with my God.<\/p>\n<p>You<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-exclusive-owners-of-solarwinds-have-links-to-obama-the-clintons-china-hong-kong-and-the-us-election-process\/\" title=\"BREAKING EXCLUSIVE: Owners of SolarWinds Have Links to Obama, the Clintons, China, Hong Kong and the US Election Process\">\u2019ll find<\/a> out pretty quickly what someone\u2019s intentions are once you mention how sold out you are for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/rest-restored-sabbath-jesus-redemption-new-testament\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jesus<\/a> \u2014 especially when your actions back it up.<\/p>\n<p>It is possible that you can invite someone you\u2019re dating to church and they do genuinely accept Jesus and become a Christian, but that\u2019s not a reason to purposely enter into a relationship with an unbeliever.<\/p>\n<p>If you haven\u2019t heard of the term \u201cmissionary dating,\u201d let me spell it out for you. This is when a Christian purposely dates a non-Christian with the intention that the unbeliever will convert to Christianity. The Christian believes that if the unbeliever likes them enough, they will come to church, find Jesus, and turn their life around.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/H-yeF5Rczfc?si=ax0UybNp8NrBR6ni\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In case I haven\u2019t mentioned it enough, I haven\u2019t found a biblical reason to date without the intent of marriage. That being said, dating to \u201cwin over souls for Christ\u201d isn\u2019t something I\u2019ve seen applauded in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bible-not-justify-anti-semitism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Word<\/a>, either.<\/p>\n<p>There are many things that can go wrong when you think you alone have the power to bring someone to Christ by becoming their significant other.<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few reasons why missionary dating is not a good thing:<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Is dating harder nowadays?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>It may start off great in the beginning, and the guy you like could be eager to accompany you to Bible study and attend <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/problem-41-churchgoers-seeing-no-biblical-problem-sex-marriage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sunday service<\/a>. However, is he doing this just to impress you? The thing about dating a guy and asking him to follow Christ with you is that you may never know if his intentions are pure or if he will drop the act as soon as you say your relationship is over. He could say he\u2019s falling in love with Jesus, only for you to find out later that he\u2019s acting and living the same way he was before and is not bearing any Christ-like qualities.<\/p>\n<p>The Bible says in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matthew+7%3A16&#038;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Matthew 7:16<\/a>, \u201cYou will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ve probably heard of the term \u201cunequally yoked,\u201d but that doesn\u2019t only apply to saved versus unsaved. This also has to do with your spiritual maturity. Equally yoked Christians learn, grow, and strive together in order to take their relationship with the Lord to a higher level. If the significant other in your life does indeed become a believer, she still will be many levels below you in her walk. This is a problem because most of your energy goes toward pouring into her and not getting spiritually fed in one of your most intimate relationships.<\/p>\n<p>In another instance, you may say, \u201cBut I followed my heart, and it led me to my boyfriend. I know he\u2019s the one!\u201d The world will throw around phrases to make you think feeding your flesh is the best thing you can do to get what you want out of life. According to the Word, that is simply not true. It is very dangerous to be led by your emotions. You may think God wants you in this guy\u2019s life to save him because you have such a connection to him. I promise you if he isn\u2019t in love with Christ, he is not the one. If he is, the Lord will allow you to cross paths again when you have a parallel relationship with God.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Jeremiah+17%3A9-10&#038;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jeremiah 17:9-10<\/a>, \u201cThe heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? \u2018I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Accountability is something I think we may take for granted. It\u2019s great to share our triumphs and our shortcomings, but at the end of the day, someone who\u2019s not digging into their Bible will not be able to tell you when you need a spiritual checkup. Most likely, you will lose your moral compass and end up further away from God than you thought possible. Furthermore, if she doesn\u2019t see you the way God sees you, it\u2019s not likely that she will respect your virtue and strive to maintain your purity as a sister in Christ should.<\/p>\n<p>You do not have the power to convert anyone. It is the Holy Spirit\u2019s responsibility to convict and allow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/popular-rom-com-actress-jen-lilley-shares-adoption-teaches-grafted-gods-love\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">God\u2019s love<\/a> to penetrate someone\u2019s heart. If you are taking it upon yourself, you are unfortunately deceived to think that by your works he will be saved.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor by grace you have been saved through faith.
