Much of the conversation centered around the 2024 presidential election.<\/p>\n<p>Couric admitted, honestly, that former President Donald Trump holds a lead over President Joe Biden. It wasn\u2019t an answer easily given, considering she is a known Democrat. Couric was invited to the show to primarily discuss a documentary she produced. Michaelson, however, wouldn\u2019t have been doing his job if he hadn\u2019t asked her the obvious question.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut let\u2019s start with the news of the week, and since we talk politics here so much,\u201d he began, \u201cwho\u2019s winning the presidential race right now? Is it Trump? Is it Biden? What do you \u2026 how do you see the state of the race right now?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Couric turned the question back on Michaelson, chuckling while she responded that she actually wanted to know what he thought about it first. She\u2019d then went on to answer: \u201cFrom where I sit, um, it seems that Donald Trump has the edge right now, despite all of his legal woes and the fact that he, you know, is on trial and Stormy Daniels and Michael Cohen, uh, he seems to be surprisingly gaining momentum, not losing it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nnaBDhTYc7w?si=nFh7be0kEYpji5Jv\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Katie Couric probably didn\u2019t want to have to admit this, but she\u2019d be hard pressed not to, especially as Michaelson used Biden\u2019s agreement to debate Trump as a sign that Couric\u2019s view of the situation is correct. Michaelson said, \u201cI think that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-campaign-demands-unprecedented-rule-changes-debates-showing-scared\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">debates<\/a> coming in June is an acknowledgement that Joe Biden and his campaign know that they\u2019re losing, that there is this feeling that they need to shake-up the race, and they need to do it now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Both agreed that the interviews Biden has done up to this point have been limited and safe, with hosts confined to softball questions. Couric explained that that type of interview, if not mixed up with more policy-based, hard-hitting, topical issues, will hurt Biden even more. She admitted that she had been requesting her own interview. \u201cThe less you talk, the higher the stakes are when you do,\u201d Couric said in regard to Biden\u2019s dodging those in the media known for their toughness.<\/p>\n<p>Many wonder if Biden agreeing to debate Trump is all a show. This includes podcaster David J. Harris Jr., who recently shared on Instagram a stunning post by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/what-happens-if-trump-is-convicted-in-new-york-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CBS News<\/a>, that, could lead to an unprecedented turn of events across this nation. \u201cBREAKING: The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/secret-service-meets-new-york-jail-officials-trump-trial-draws-close-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. Secret Service<\/a> has met with New York jail officials to discuss preparations for former President Donald Trump being taken into custody and placed behind bars, according to CBS News this still developing.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote data-instgrm-captioned data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/C7hjwnlpv3f\/?utm_source=ig_embed&#038;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\"><\/blockquote>\n<p>  One use responded to the post, \u201cWhy do you think Biden agreed to the debate?? He knew it would never happen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>CBS News spoke to a person it described only as a \u201cNew York corrections source,\u201d who indicated conversations were being held in the event Trump is placed behind bars \u2014 most likely at Rikers Island Jail Complex.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Prison is] a possibility that officials in state and federal agencies have begun preparing for, according to a New York corrections source, who said the Secret Service has met with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/secret-service-meets-with-new-york-jail-officials-as-trump-trial-draws-to-a-close-report\/\" title=\"Secret Service Meets New York Jail Officials Amid Trump Trial Conclusion: Report\">local jail officials<\/a>. As a former president, Trump is entitled to Secret Service protection for the rest of his life, wherever he happens to be. Behind bars, corrections officers would in turn be responsible for protecting those agents assigned to Trump,\u201d the outlet noted.<\/p>\n<p>But there are plenty of Trump supporters that believe there is nothing standard or out of the realm of possibility when it comes to the handling of Trump by the Biden administration, the Democrats, and their many unjust tentacles. This includes Brigitte Gabriel, founder and chairman of ACT for America.<\/p>\n<p>Gabriel responded to the news, \u201cAre you kidding me?! The latest poll shared by <a href=\"https:\/\/projects.fivethirtyeight.com\/polls\/president-general\/2024\/national\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FiveThirtyEight<\/a> has Trump leading in the national polls by 1.2 percent.<\/p>\n<p>As Couric clearly expressed in her interview, the stakes are high.
