Dershowitz \u2064criticizes the judge&#8217;s perceived bias\u2062 and \u2062highlights the trial&#8217;s significance on the justice system.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>If former President Donald Trump is convicted in the Manhattan hush-money trial, the American legal system will be weaponized and changed forever, according to Harvard Law School Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz.<\/p>\n<p>Dershowitz discussed the trial on the <a href=\"https:\/\/justthenews.com\/government\/courts-law\/alan-dershowitz-says-conviction-trump-hush-money-trial-weaponize-justice\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Just the News<\/a> show \u201cNo Noise\u201d on Tuesday as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/jury-deliberations-to-begin-in-whitmer-kidnapping-trial\/\" title=\"Jury Deliberations To Begin In Whitmer Kidnapping Trial\">closing arguments wrapped<\/a> up in the case brought against Trump by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. The former president is charged with 34 felony counts of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/are-the-charges-brought-against-the-trump-organizations-cfo-part-of-a-witch-hunt-experts-weigh-in\/\" title=\"Are The Charges Brought Against The Trump Organization\u2019s CFO Part Of A Witch Hunt? Experts Weigh In\">falsifying business records<\/a> in his alleged attempts to cover up an affair with porn actress Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election. Trump has pleaded not guilty to the charges and has denied having any affair with Daniels.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf there\u2019s a conviction here, it will change the justice system forevermore,\u201d Dershowitz <a href=\"https:\/\/justthenews.com\/government\/courts-law\/alan-dershowitz-says-conviction-trump-hush-money-trial-weaponize-justice\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>. \u201cIt will weaponize the system. It will mean that both sides will try to use the legal system as a way of winning elections.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dershowitz, often <a href=\"https:\/\/hls.harvard.edu\/faculty\/alan-m-dershowitz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">called<\/a> \u201cthe best-known criminal lawyer in the world,\u201d added that faith in the American legal system can be restored if Trump is acquitted in the trial.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf there\u2019s an acquittal, maybe at least we can say the jury system works,\u201d he said. \u201cBut if there\u2019s a conviction or even a hung jury, it will show that the prosecution benefits from bringing a case, which is no crime at all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dershowitz also blasted Judge Juan Merchan, the judge overseeing Trump\u2019s criminal trial who donated to President Joe Biden\u2019s 2020 election campaign.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know the reason but it\u2019s obvious that he is not unbiased in this case,\u201d the lawyer said. \u201cHe wants a conviction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dershowitz isn\u2019t alone in his concerns about the Manhattan DA\u2019s case against Trump.
