Royal Caribbean, the ship operator, provided assistance to the passenger&#8217;s family during this \u2062distressing incident, leading to a temporary \u200bhalt in\u2063 the ship&#8217;s operations for two hours during\u200d the search.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/news\/\">  News <\/a>   <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/johnathanjones\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/johnathanjones\/%20\"><span>Johnathan Jones<\/span><\/a>  and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/%20\"><span> <\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   May 28, 2024 at 1:54pm <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>A man is dead after he jumped from the world\u2019s largest cruise ship after it left Florida for a week-long voyage throughout the Caribbean.<\/p>\n<p>Why the man jumped remained a mystery as of Tuesday but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/brutal-turn-boat-full-migrants-coast-guard-cutter-intercepts-right-off-us-shores\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the U.S. Coast Guard<\/a> assisted in the rescue, the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/05\/28\/us-news\/passenger-dead-after-jumping-off-worlds-largest-cruise-ship\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Post<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>According to the newspaper, the unidentified man jumped and a rescue boat was deployed and used to bring him back aboard the 20-deck high Icon of the Seas.<\/p>\n<p>The ship left its port in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/video-trump-gets-heros-welcome-miami-formula-1-race-attended-90000\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Miami<\/a> on Saturday en route to Honduras.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday, as the massive vessel was about 30 miles north of Santa Lucia, Cuba, the passenger jumped into the sea.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cruisehive.com\/passenger-jumps-off-worlds-largest-cruise-ship\/135244\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cruise Hive<\/a>, a website dedicated to cruise line news. reported it was initially believed the man was recovering from the jump aboard the ship. A man went overboard this morning about 300 miles from Miami in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico Captain ordered a search &#038; rescue. After two hours it seems the man has been rescued and is alive. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/XXdqoscWAK\">pic.twitter.com\/XXdqoscWAK<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 David Canter (@davidcanter) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/davidcanter\/status\/1794761423614058744?\">May 26, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Coast Guard said in a statement to the Post that the man was pronounced dead and that it had \u201clittle involvement\u201d in the recovery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe cruise ship deployed one of their rescue boats, located the man and brought him back aboard,\u201d the Coast Guard said. \u201cHe was pronounced deceased.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Coast Guard added, \u201cBeyond assisting in the search, the US Coast Guard did not have much involvement in this incident.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/royal-caribbean-pay-someone-136000-travel-world\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Royal Caribbean<\/a>, which operates the ship, told the Post that after the passenger jumped the Coast Guard was called while it \u201claunched a search and rescue operation.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Do you like cruise ships?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In a statement, Royal Caribbean also said it had been in contact with the passenger\u2019s family.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur care team is actively providing support and assistance to the guest\u2019s loved ones during this difficult time,\u201d the company said in a statement, according to the Post.<\/p>\n<p>Royal Caribbean added, \u201cFor the privacy of the guest and their family, we have no additional details to share.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The ship was idle for about two hours during the search operation.<\/p>\n<p>The Icon of the Seas can hold 7,600 passengers and 2,350 crew members, according to the Post.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>\u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d Those 12 words have been stuck in my head since I first read them. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Former Lt.
