The Raider continues to make progress toward becoming the backbone of the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/USAF?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#USAF<\/a> bomber fleet. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/AFMC?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#AFMC<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/usairforce?\">@usairforce<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/u03HsnTKwd\">pic.twitter.com\/u03HsnTKwd<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Edwards Air Force Base (@EdwardsAFB) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EdwardsAFB\/status\/1793345250108527054?\">May 22, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe are in the flight test program, the flight test program is proceeding well,\u201d Andrew Hunter, assistant secretary of the Air Force for acquisition, technology and logistics, told senators during a May 8 hearing of the Armed Services Committee.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is doing what flight test programs are designed to do, which is helping us learn about the unique characteristics of this platform, but in a very, very effective way,\u201d Hunter said.<\/p>\n<p>Hunter said the B-21 is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/undefeated-air-force-football-team-don-uniforms-dedicated-wwii-heroes-despite-backlash\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">first aircraft<\/a> that is more digital than not.<\/p>\n<p>When it was unveiled 17 months ago, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said it was a unique bomber, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/photos-b-21-raider-in-flight-new-nuclear-stealth-bomber-air-force\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CBS News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Did you serve in the military?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cIt won\u2019t need to be based in-theater, it won\u2019t need logistical support to hold any target at risk,\u201d Austin said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFifty years of advances in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/chinas-h-20-stealth-bomber-a-threat-to-the-u-s-military-or-flying-paper-tiger\/\" title=\"China\u2019s H-20 Stealth Bomber: A Threat to the U.S. Military or Flying Paper Tiger?\">low-observable technology<\/a> have gone into this aircraft,\u201d he said. \u201cEven the most sophisticated air-defense systems will struggle to detect a B-21 in the sky.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Northrop Grumman said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/news.northropgrumman.com\/news\/releases\/northrop-grummans-b-21-raider-continues-its-flight-test-campaign\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news release<\/a> on Thursday that test pilots have reported the B-21 is performing as expected and is on track to meet its timeline.<\/p>\n<p>The B-21 is expected to move into readiness by 2027, as it replaces B-1 and B-2 bombers, according to CBS News. The Air Force has contracted to buy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/photos-see-5-photos-americas-newest-stealth-bomber-plane-visible-flexible-deterrent\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">at least 100<\/a> of the bombers.<\/p>\n<p>The Air Force release said the aircraft will be based first at Ellsworth AFB in South Dakota, followed by Whiteman AFB in Missouri and Dyess AFB in Texas.<\/p>\n<p>The service said the B-21 has \u201ca flying wing shape much like their predecessor the B-2 Spirit but will incorporate advanced materials, propulsion and stealth technology to make them more survivable in a future conflict. The plane is planned to be produced in variants with and without pilots.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The bomber is named in honor of the Doolittle Raiders who attacked Japan on April 18, 1942, \u201cwhich forced the Japanese to recall combat forces for home defense, and boosted morale among Americans and U.S. allies abroad,\u201d according to an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.af.mil\/About-Us\/Fact-Sheets\/Display\/Article\/2682973\/b-21-raider\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Air Force fact sheet<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe B-21 will form the backbone of the future Air Force bomber force consisting of B-21s and B-52s. Designed to operate in tomorrow\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/b-21-the-bomber-being-built-for-a-war-with-china-or-russia\/\" title=\"B-21: The Bomber Being Built for a War with China or Russia\">high-end threat environment<\/a>, the B-21 will play a critical role in ensuring America\u2019s enduring airpower capability,\u201d the fact sheet said.<\/p>\n<p>When the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/us-air-force-unveils-new-look-futuristic-bomber-like-world-never-seen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">B-21<\/a> was unveiled, its cost was given at $692 million per plane.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/air\/2024\/04\/09\/us-air-force-reports-lower-b-21-costs-after-negotiations-with-northrop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Defense News<\/a> report in April said that had since been lowered but officials would not provide a figure.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>An Important Message from Our Staff:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>In just a few months, the world is going to change forever.
