With the New York\u2064 Times recently publishing articles perceived to be targeting \u200cJustice Samuel Alito, Rep. Jamie Raskin advocates for a federal \u2064ethics\u2062 panel assigned to bypass\u200c any Supreme Court decision they disagree\u2064 with. Additionally, Raskin suggests that the Supreme Court can only \u2064be trusted under Democratic control. \u2064These claims, however, insinuate the Supreme Court&#8217;s corruption, a characterization largely rebuffed by its \u2064refusal to act\u2062 as a\u200b part of the Democratic Party.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><\/p>\n<div class=\"article-content\">\n<p>Democrats are so desperate to keep the Supreme Court from torpedoing their lawfare efforts against former President Donald Trump that members like Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., are openly vowing to launch a coordinated attack on the judicial branch if they don\u2019t get their way. <\/p>\n<p>Last week, The New York Times published a smear piece on Justice Samuel Alito \u201cto indict the conservative judge as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-most-dangerous-part-of-the-nyt-alito-flag-meltdown-is-the-politicization-of-patriotism\/\" title=\"The NYT's Alito Flag Controversy: Politicizing Patriotism\">partisan ideologue corrupted<\/a> by far-right politics\u201d all because an \u201cAppeal to Heaven\u201d flag flew outside his New Jersey beach home last year, my colleague <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/05\/24\/the-most-dangerous-part-of-the-nyt-alito-flag-meltdown-is-the-politicization-of-patriotism\/\">Tristan Justice<\/a> explained. The story came days after another hit piece alleged Alito was compromised because of an upside-down American flag flown by his wife. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-929134534\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-27d378e4c1cb572123df3bad705d5117 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-27d378e4c1cb572123df3bad705d5117\"><\/div>\n<p>Raskin pounced on the stories, however, <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/house\/4672779-jamie-raskin-upside-down-flag-samuel-alito-supreme-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">arguing<\/a> on MSNBC that if Alito doesn\u2019t \u201cheed the calls to recuse himself from the [Jan. 6-related] case,\u201d there should be a federal ethics panel made up of circuit judges to which Raskin and other Democrats can whine and undermine the Supreme Court any time they don\u2019t get their way. This is in addition to House Democrats\u2019 newly announced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.courthousenews.com\/scotus-expansion-term-limits-on-the-menu-for-new-house-task-force\/\">task <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/no-spike-in-florida-coronavirus-cases-despite-no-mask-mandate\/\" title=\"No Spike in Florida Coronavirus Cases Despite No Mask Mandate\">force<\/a><\/a>, of which Raskin is a member, that exists to overhaul the court through legislation and rhetoric.<\/p>\n<p>Raskin took his attacks one step further, last week encouraging Americans to \u201cfall out of love\u201d with the Supreme Court and <a href=\"https:\/\/slate.com\/news-and-politics\/2024\/05\/jamie-raskin-on-how-america-fix-supreme-court.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">arguing<\/a> the institution can only be trusted once Democrats have control of its operations.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n[T]o my mind, we\u2019ve gotta organize the people in America. That\u2019s where the power comes from. And we will, if and when we win back the House and the Senate and the White House. We will look at the Supreme Court and figure out what can be done about that extremely corrupted and contaminated body.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Fellow Democrat Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse reiterated Raskin\u2019s message in a post on X saying, \u201cYes we will, brother. And that\u2019s the real reason Raskin and other Democrats are hell-bent on playing up the Alito nonstory.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-206b423e1b4f6b0b72056ea4351f28cf fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-206b423e1b4f6b0b72056ea4351f28cf\"><\/div>\n<p>The Supreme Court is set to rule on whether obstruction charges can be levied against Jan. 6 protesters \u2014 and could possibly derail one of Special Counsel Jack Smith\u2019s cases against Trump involving presidential immunity. By falsely connecting the \u201cAppeal to Heaven\u201d flag to so-called \u201cright-wing extremism\u201d rather than its <em>actual <\/em>history of the Revolutionary War, Democrats can smear the court \u2014 as Raskin put it \u2014 as a \u201ccorrupted\u201d and \u201ccontaminated\u201d branch of government that can no longer function independently but must be supervised by Democrat lawmakers. <\/p>\n<p>In fact, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.courthousenews.com\/scotus-expansion-term-limits-on-the-menu-for-new-house-task-force\/\">Democrats\u2019 rosily named \u201ccourt reform\u201d task force<\/a> is working to expand the bench, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-promise-coordinated-assault-on-court-if-they-dont-get-their-way\/\" title=\"Democrats Vow Organized Attack on Court if Their Terms Aren't Met\">create term limits<\/a> for justices, force the Supreme Court to create a code of ethics based on partisan public input, and create an independent review board to hear ethics complaints lobbed against the justices.<\/p>\n<p>But as Alexander Hamilton warned in Federalist 78, the judicial branch \u201cis in continual jeopardy of being overpowered, awed, or influenced\u201d if tied to either the executive or legislative branch. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThough individual oppression may now and then proceed from the courts of justice, the general liberty of the people can never be endangered from that quarter; I mean so long as the Judiciary remains truly distinct from both the Legislature and the Executive,\u201d Hamilton wrote. \u201cAnd it proves, in the last place, that as liberty can have nothing to fear from the Judiciary alone, but would have everything to fear from its union with either of the other departments.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-6c218c67e72074b5e17a8b509441b9a1 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-6c218c67e72074b5e17a8b509441b9a1\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-d72325bf10e5519b76add8f80b0d562b fdrlst__b89e9-after-post-content\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-d72325bf10e5519b76add8f80b0d562b\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">    \t\t\t\t\t   \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Desperate to prevent Supreme Court interference in their legal pursuits against Donald Trump, certain Democrats, like Rep.
