Tafoya will appear as a guest host on The Daily Wire\u2019s news podcast \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/podcasts\/morning-wire\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Morning Wire<\/a>\u201d this week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Tafoya said the reaction to Butker was motivated by an antipathy toward traditional, religious values.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cPeople are very ready to have knee-jerk reactions to everything that everyone says these days, and particularly traditional people,\u201d Tafoya told The Daily Wire. \u201cI don\u2019t know why traditional values are so despised, but they seem to be really something that people are ready to cancel you for.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Butker, a practicing Catholic, delivered his controversial remarks during a commencement ceremony at Benedictine College in Kansas. In the ceremony\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncregister.com\/news\/harrison-butker-speech-at-benedictine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">keynote<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, the Chiefs\u2019 kicker emphasized the importance of the Catholic faith and its values, such as its opposition to homosexuality and transgenderism. Butker also promoted the importance of motherhood.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI want to speak directly to you briefly because I think it is you, the women, who have had the most <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/irate-leftists-wage-war-on-chiefs-star-kicker-for-being-too-conservative\/\" title=\"Angry Liberals Target Chiefs' Kicker for Conservative Views\">diabolical lies told<\/a> to you, how many of you are sitting here now about to cross the stage, and are thinking about all the promotions and titles you\u2019re going to get in your career,\u201d Butker <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/CollegeFix\/status\/1789993734156759384\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">said<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. \u201cSome of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world. But I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI can tell you that my beautiful wife Isabelle would be the first to say that her life truly started when she began living her vocation as a wife and as a mother,\u201d he continued.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The reaction to Butker\u2019s May 11 speech continues to carry headlines weeks later. Many Americans get caught up in the latest outrage and give fuel to stories such as Butker\u2019s \u2013 a religious Catholic talking about Catholic values at a Catholic college\u2019s commencement address.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe culture wars are running deep,\u201d she said. There are signs to be optimistic about the national conversation, however, she added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI think we have more room now to be on the other side, to say, \u2018Why can\u2019t you just accept this man for who he is?\u2019 I think there was a time maybe 10-20 years ago where we would have all had to just shut our mouths and let the progressive side have the last say. I don\u2019t think that\u2019s happening anymore.
