Cavanaugh disapproves \u2062of his seemingly blanket \u2062blame of climate change for various problems.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/commentary\/\">  Commentary <\/a>   <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/ccavanaugh\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/ccavanaugh\/%20\"><span>Connor Cavanaugh<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   May 27, 2024 at 9:38am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>Has Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg ever said anything intelligent?<\/p>\n<p>It seems that whenever he goes to speak about a topic, he finds a way to produce some of the worst ideas or answers that anyone could come up with.<\/p>\n<p>Examples include Buttigieg\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/let-finish-pete-buttigieg-torched-cnbc-host-live-air-defends-bidens-handling-border-crisis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stumbling on CNBC<\/a> to attempt to defend the horrible job President Joe Biden has done handling the border crisis and his acknowledging the faults of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bidens-climate-agenda-wont-replace-jobs-it-seeks-to-kill-separate-ap-wapo-fact-checks-suggest\/\" title=\"Biden\u2019s Climate Agenda Won\u2019t Replace Jobs It Seeks To Kill, Separate AP, WaPo Fact-Checks Suggest\">electric vehicles<\/a> but declaring the solution was to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/pete-buttigieg-admits-issues-electric-vehicle-spending-100-million-taxpayer-dollars-problem\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">spend billions of government dollars<\/a> on it.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, once again, Mayor Pete showed he\u2019s dead set on managing to find the worst possible answer to every problem.<\/p>\n<p>So what issue was Buttigieg tackling this time? An increase in flight turbulence.<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/05\/26\/climate-change-behind-rising-flight-turbulence-transportation-secy-buttigieg-says.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNBC<\/a> noted, a 2023 study in the journal Geophysical Research Letters found an increase in clear-air turbulence from 1979 and 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Buttigieg\u2019s solution is to focus on what he claims is the cause of this increase: climate change.<\/p>\n<p>Yep, as he and his fellow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/justice-sotomayor-reality-liberal-conservative-court-live-frustration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">liberals<\/a> seem to do every time there\u2019s an issue related to nature, no matter how small, it\u2019s the fault of climate change.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reality is, the effects of climate change are already upon us in terms of our transportation,\u201d Mayor Pete said on CBS\u2019 \u201cFace the Nation.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Has Buttgieg made the country\u2019s transportation sector worse?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve seen that in the form of everything from heat waves that shouldn\u2019t statistically even be possible threatening to melt the cables of transit systems in the Pacific Northwest, to, as you mentioned, hurricane seasons becoming more and more extreme and indications that turbulence is up by about 15 percent,\u201d Buttigieg said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat means assessing anything and everything that we can do about it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Host Margaret Brennan brought up the recent incident in which one passenger was killed and many others were injured when a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/one-passenger-dead-dozens-injured-boeing-jet-hits-severe-turbulence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Singapore Airlines<\/a> flight encountered \u201csevere turbulence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat was rare,\u201d she said. \u201cBut you\u2019re saying you do expect to see more incidents like that here in the U.S.?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo be clear, something that extreme is very rare,\u201d Buttigieg acknowledged. \u201cBut turbulence can happen, and sometimes it can happen unexpectedly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur climate is evolving. Our policies and our technology and our infrastructure have to evolve accordingly, too.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SecretaryPete?\">@SecretaryPete<\/a> says an increase in flight turbulence is one of the effects of climate change that \u201care already upon us in terms of our transportation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He says the deadly turbulence on a recent Singapore Airlines flight is \u201cvery rare,\u201d but \u201cturbulence can happen and sometimes\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/GIOvMHi7fh\">pic.twitter.com\/GIOvMHi7fh<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Face The Nation (@FaceTheNation) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FaceTheNation\/status\/1794748977000153310?\">May 26, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThis is all about making sure that we stay ahead of the curve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So, he made a \u201cvery rare\u201d circumstance into a major issue \u2014 but surely that means he has some sort of solution to it, right?<\/p>\n<p>What a stupid question \u2014 of course not!<\/p>\n<p>No, instead Mayor Pete was just happy to get on the air and offer up another dubious claim about climate change.<\/p>\n<p>Changes in air turbulence can be caused by many factors, including weather, man-made structures and shear, per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.business-standard.com\/world-news\/increasing-turbulence-why-flights-are-facing-more-bumps-in-the-sky-124052700400_1.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Business Standard<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>To blame it on global warming to advance a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/lithium-mother-lode-discovered-unlikely-places-green-new-deal-radicals-wont-like-one-bit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">radical environmentalist agenda<\/a> is extremely disingenuous.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>An Important Message from Our Staff:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>We who work here at The Western Journal have fought for years against Big Tech and the elites who want to shut us down and then shut America down. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Make no mistake \u2014 nothing will be the same after November 2024.
