Yet thanks to onboard parachutes, all the passengers including the pilot, managed to\u2062 escape unscathed. Bates County Sheriff&#8217;s Office and other\u200c agencies are \u200dassisting the NTSB in this \u2064investigation, with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pilot-news-photographer-killed-in-n-j-helicopter-crash\/\" title=\"NJ helicopter crash claims lives of pilot and news photographer\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/protesters-shut-down-large-scale-vaccine-site-at-dodger-stadium\/\" title=\"Protesters Shut Down Large-Scale Vaccine Site At Dodger Stadium\">preliminary report<\/a> expected<\/a> within 30 days.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/news\/\">  News <\/a>  <\/p>\n<h2>Plane Falls from Sky, Smashes Into Hay Field &#8211; What Was On Board Saved All Passengers<\/h2>\n<p> <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/russdavis\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/russdavis\/%20\"><span>Jack Davis<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   May 26, 2024 at 1:50pm <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>The passengers who boarded a Cessna on Saturday expected they would use their parachutes \u2014 but not quite the way things turned out.<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Aviation Administration said that the single-engine Cessna C206 that took off on a skydiving flight crashed near Butler Memorial Airport in Missouri at about 1 p.m., according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kctv5.com\/2024\/05\/25\/seven-people-survive-plane-crash-near-butler-memorial-airport\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KCTV-TV<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Bates County Sheriff\u2019s Office stated that when first responders arrived, they found the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/miracle-couple-survives-separate-plane-crashes-day-25-miles-apart-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wreckage<\/a> in a hay field.<\/p>\n<p>The website <a href=\"https:\/\/aviation-safety.net\/wikibase\/388337\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aviation Safety Network<\/a>, which allows user reporting\/input a la Wikipedia, described the incident this way: \u201cA Cessna U206C Super Skywagon (Turbine Conversions Pratt Ltd Pratt &#038; Whitney Canada PT6A-20 550 hp turbine conversion) experienced a Skydiver premature parachute deployment at 14,000 msl damaging the tail section.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe pilot was able to parachute to safety after the six skydivers jumped out and the aircraft was destroyed. The plane crashed in a field east of Butler Memorial Airport (BUM\/KBUM), Butler, Missouri. No injuries,\u201d the post, which could not be verified, said.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">A small plane with seven people on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/search-and-rescue-teams-at-site-of-indonesian-plane-crash\/\" title=\"Search and rescue teams at site of Indonesian plane crash\">board crashed<\/a> near Butler Memorial Airport Saturday afternoon.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/pPoplicrHR\">https:\/\/t.co\/pPoplicrHR<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 KSHB 41 News (@KSHB41) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KSHB41\/status\/1794499213205930299?\">May 25, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In a statement Sunday, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-north-dakota-republican-killed-plane-crash-along-wife-2-kids\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Transportation Safety Board<\/a> offered a glimpse into what it did know.<\/p>\n<p>It said the plane was on a skydiving flight and \u201call passengers and the pilot were able to exit the plane before it crashed,\u201d according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kshb.com\/news\/local-news\/small-airplane-crashes-saturday-afternoon-near-butler-missouri-airport\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KSHB-TV<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Would you ever go skydiving?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe wreckage will be recovered to an offsite facility for examination. During the on-scene phase of the investigative process, the NTSB does not determine or speculate about the cause of the accident,\u201d the NTSB said.<\/p>\n<p>The agency will release its preliminary report within 30 days.<\/p>\n<p>Bates County sheriff\u2019s deputies and the Federal Aviation Administration will assist the NTSB,\u00a0 according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kmbc.com\/article\/plane-crash-butler-memorial-airport-ntsb-faa\/60904911\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KMBC-TV<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to KCTV, all of those aboard were treated at the scene for such bumps and bruises as they sustained and then released.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/pilot-passengers-skydiving-flight-jump-small-plane-crashes-missouri-hayfield\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox News<\/a>, the plane was described as a \u201ctotal loss.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The Butler Memorial Airport is located about 60 miles south of Kansas City.<\/p>\n<p>The Butler County Sheriff\u2019s Office posted an updated release about the incident after some misunderstood its initial <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/BatesCountySheriffsOffice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The initial post noted, \u201cThe pilot had been able to parachute from the plane prior to the plane crashing and was located at an hanger at the airport.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Because that led to questions about everyone else on board, deputies added a clarification: \u201cAll parachuters on the plane exited prior to the pilot leaving the plane.
