Tony Gonzales (R-TX) attributed the temporary decline in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-recruiting-gop-senators-for-amnesty-deal\/\" title=\"Democrats Recruiting GOP Senators for Amnesty Deal\">illegal border crossings<\/a> to Mexico&#8217;s upcoming significant elections. Politicians there, according to Gonzales, are showcasing their strength on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ramaswamy-warns-border-invasion-could-lead-to-attack-in-vein-of-hamas-oct-7-strike\/\" title=\"Ramaswamy cautions against border 'invasion', warns of potential attack similar to Hamas' Oct. 7 strike\">national \u200csecurity measures<\/a> to appeal to \u200bvoters. Despite \u200bthe brief decline, he highlighted that \u200dthe numbers \u200bare \u200bstill high under President Joe Biden&#8217;s administration, with an anticipated\u2063 1.3 million illegal crossings this \u200cyear.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-TX) said during an interview over the weekend that illegal border crossings are temporarily down because Mexico has important elections soon, and politicians there want to convince voters that they are strong on national security measures.<\/p>\n<p>Gonzales made the remarks during a Sunday CBS News interview with Margaret Brennan on \u201cFace The Nation\u201d when asked about the numbers, which are still very high under President Joe Biden compared to previous administrations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt doesn\u2019t have to do with what Joe Biden has done. We\u2019re on pace [this year] for 1.3 million people to come over illegally,\u201d he said. \u201cThe numbers are down. The explanation is Mexico. A lot of people don\u2019t realize Mexico has an election next month for its presidency, nine governorships and its congress. So, in many cases, those that are running on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/u-s-centcom-chief-afghan-forces-may-collapse-after-u-s-pullout-says-pentagon-may-need-additional-resources-to-withdraw-u-s-troops\/\" title=\"U.S. Centcom Chief: Afghan forces may collapse after U.S. pullout, says Pentagon may need additional resources to withdraw U.S. troops\">security platforms<\/a> are keeping the numbers down.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe cartels are like \u2013 they are like companies,\u201d he continued. \u201cSo they\u2019re taking a loss in Q1 and Q2 in order to increase the volume in Q3 and Q4. So, if any \u2013 in many \u2013 in many ways, this is just Mexico carrying Biden a couple rounds. Now, if Joe Biden wants to secure this thing long term, I think he needs to stop looking at the Senate for a solution and look to the House.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gonzales said that Biden could fix the problem by backing H.R.2, the Republicans\u2019 solution to Biden\u2019s illegal immigration crisis, but that even just talking with the House would be impactful because he refuses to negotiate with Republicans.<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1700760801843000&#038;usg=AOvVaw2PQrVSrJfhxNb4LcARqniG\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe president has not had any real conversations with anyone in the House,\u201d he said. \u201cThe Senate, yes, they\u2019ve sat down, they\u2019ve had these conversations. But, in the House, they\u2019ve given no oxygen to it. This is a different Congress than in years past.
