If you\u2019ve been in an airport and seen a suspicious number of travelers in wheelchairs, you might have.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/05\/23\/frontier-airlines-ceo-passengers-abuse-airport-wheelchair-service.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNBC<\/a>, the CEO of a major ultra-low-cost carrier was the latest airline executive to call out what he says is a common practice: Able-bodied individuals using wheelchairs meant for the disabled.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to the 1986 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/99th-congress\/senate-bill\/2703\/text\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Air Carrier Access Act<\/a>, airlines are required to provide wheelchairs for those who need them. However, according to the CEO of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/frontier-airlines-breaks-duct-tape-secure-unruly-passenger\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Frontier Airlines<\/a>, plenty of travelers are faking disability or injury to get someone to wheel them to or from their flight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is massive, rampant abuse of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/l-a-school-district-takes-heat-for-vaccine-mandate\/\" title=\"L.A. school district takes heat for vaccine mandate\">special services<\/a>. There are people using wheelchair assistance who don\u2019t need it at all,\u201d Biffle said Thursday during an industry event in New York City, CNBC reported.<\/p>\n<p>Biffle told the crowd that he\u2019d seen some flights with 20 wheelchairs present at departure, with only two or three upon arrival at destination.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are healing so many people,\u201d he quipped.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Frontier Airlines CEO urges crackdown of \u2018rampant abuse\u2019 of airport wheelchair service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are healing so many people,\u201d he joked.<\/p>\n<p>CNBC: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/dTz9v7vKXj\">https:\/\/t.co\/dTz9v7vKXj<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/95u8ntwEdU\">pic.twitter.com\/95u8ntwEdU<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Greg Angel (@NewsGuyGreg) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NewsGuyGreg\/status\/1793754586471432546?\">May 23, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Now, there might be legitimate reasons for the disparity between wheelchair use at different ends of a flight, as John Morris \u2014 a triple-amputee who founded WheelchairTravel.org \u2014 noted to CNBC.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Should those who abuse this system be banned from airlines?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>For instance, at bigger airports like New York City\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/plane-passenger-records-ufo-nyc-can-anyone-help-identify\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LaGuardia<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/chaos-dfw-airline-agent-slugs-woman-continues-pummel-bystanders-jump-separate-two\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dallas Fort-Worth<\/a>, it may be daunting for those with disabilities to make it through the airport. Smaller cities or airports may not present the same challenge, he said. So, for passengers taking off from a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/millions-of-americans-brace-for-another-winter-storm\/\" title=\"Millions of Americans brace for another winter storm\">major airport<\/a> and landing at a much smaller one, a wheelchair might not be necessary at the destination.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDisability impacts people in a lot of different ways,\u201d Morris told the outlet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think there\u2019s a good case to be made that abusers should face some consequence, but I\u2019m not sure how we do that in a society when our disabilities aren\u2019t [always] visible,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>But that isn\u2019t what Biffle was talking about. And he\u2019s not the first person in the industry to remark on the trend.<\/p>\n<p>Back in 2022, for instance, London Heathrow Airport CEO John Holland-Kaye told a British radio outlet, as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/news\/uk-news\/tiktok-wheelchair-travel-hack-blamed-27579776\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.K. Mirror<\/a> reported, that travelers were \u201cusing wheelchair support to try to get fast-tracked through the airport.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you go on TikTok, that is one of the travel hacks people are recommending,\u201d he told LBC Radio. \u201cPlease don\u2019t do that. We need to protect the service for people who need it most.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And, as he pointed out, this is something that\u2019s gone viral on social media as of late:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">A friend shares a not-uncommon sight from Puerto Rico:<\/p>\n<p>55 \u201chandicapped\u201d during pre-boarding, including 25 wheel chairs<\/p>\n<p>On his return flight, 15 used wheelchairs to board, only 1 to deboard <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/gHgIsnzsq7\">pic.twitter.com\/gHgIsnzsq7<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Bachman (@ElonBachman) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ElonBachman\/status\/1627299989411037187?\">February 19, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Disability may impact different people in different ways, but not <em>that<\/em> differently.<\/p>\n<p>This is the sign of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/sick-revelation-trumps-white-house-code-name-according-biden-insiders\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sick society<\/a> \u2014 the idea that taking advantage of a wheelchair meant for the disabled is a \u201ctravel hack,\u201d not shamefully dishonest behavior.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s sad that we should be such a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/watch-youtuber-harasses-the-wrong-guy-finds-himself-gutshot-after-refusing-to-let-up\/\" title=\"Video: YouTuber Harasses Stranger, Pays the Price for Not Backing Down\">low-trust society<\/a> that we start to consider asking those in wheelchairs for their credentials and banning those who have a history of faking it.<\/p>\n<p>Yet, that\u2019s exactly what one is tempted to do here. Perhaps a goodly dose of shame heaped upon these malingerers thanks to Biffle\u2019s comments \u2014 combined with the reminder that getting on a wheelchair won\u2019t get a traveler to the destination any quicker \u2014 will be all it takes for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/mother-sues-tiktok-sons-death-says-alive-today-hadnt-seen-videos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TikTokkers<\/a> to take their pathetic wheelchair-hack videos down.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>I heard a chilling comment the other day: \u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>That wasn\u2019t said by a conspiracy theorist or a doomsday prophet.
