Now, George W. Bush\u2019s ambassador to the United Nations and Donald Trump\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/betrayed-from-within-patrick-byrne-blasts-white-house-staff-after-attending-election-meeting-with-president-trump-sydney-powell-and-gen-flynn\/\" title=\"\u201cBetrayed From Within\u201d: Patrick Byrne Blasts White House Staff After Attending Election Meeting With President Trump, Sydney Powell and Gen. Flynn\">national security advisor<\/a> has become one of the go-to professional former Republicans who will whine and complain to the media over what the GOP has become since Trump\u2019s 2016 presidential victory.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, for him to say the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/analysis-debt-ceiling-is-high-stakes-and-a-gop-opportunity\/\" title=\"ANALYSIS: Debt Ceiling Is High Stakes, and a GOP Opportunity\">establishment media narrative<\/a> on some outrage regarding Trump is petty and stupid is basically inviting summary judgment that it is, on its face, petty and stupid. Thus, perhaps CNN might have wanted to check what Bolton thought about the \u201cbreaking news\u201d that Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito had flown \u201ca provocative flag embraced by Trump supporters\u201d \u2014 to use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-pundit-fact-checks-wolf-blitzer-live-air-lies-trumps-animals-comment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wolf Blitzer\u2019s<\/a> words during the Wednesday segment about Justice Alito \u2014 outside one of his houses once upon a time.<\/p>\n<p>They didn\u2019t, and the resulting clip is priceless.<\/p>\n<p>Just to review, in case you hadn\u2019t been keeping up with the vexillological investigations regarding what\u2019s been up Justice Alito\u2019s flagpoles: On May 16, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/05\/16\/us\/justice-alito-upside-down-flag.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The New York Times<\/a> reported that \u2014 <em>gasp!<\/em> \u2014 Alito\u2019s wife seems to have to flown the American flag upside-down in January of 2021, just before Joe Biden was sworn into office as the 46th president.<\/p>\n<p>This scoop from over three years ago was important, the Times claimed in its headline, because it was \u201ca \u2018Stop the Steal\u2019 Symbol on Display.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>All the paper could verify, mind you, was that it was purportedly in response to a family on Alito\u2019s block who had \u201cdisplayed an anti-Trump sign with an expletive\u201d and that the justice\u2019s wife was apparently responsible for it \u2014 but that was no excuse! He should have control over everything his spouse does, dagnabbit! We now return you to your regularly scheduled two-minutes hate over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/fact-check-harrison-butker-really-say-go-back-women-babies-thoughts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Harrison Butker telling female graduates<\/a> from a Catholic school that they should embrace biblical gender roles, the neanderthal brute.<\/p>\n<p>Well, they apparently weren\u2019t done with Alito yet, because another flag with origins dating back to the Revolutionary War \u2014 but which was embraced by Trump supporters in the wake of the 2020 election \u2014 was seen flying outside Alito\u2019s vacation home in New Jersey in July and September of 2023, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/05\/22\/us\/justice-alito-flag-appeal-to-heaven.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Times<\/a> reported Wednesday. (Whoever does flagpole coverage for the Gray Lady must be especially busy this election cycle.)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis time, it was the \u2018Appeal to Heaven\u2019 flag, which, like the inverted U.S. flag, was carried by rioters at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021,\u201d read the Times\u2019 \u201cscoop,\u201d which carried no less than three names on the byline.<\/p>\n<p>The Times added: \u201cAlso known as the Pine Tree flag, it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-complete-guide-to-gina-caranos-post-mma-career\/\" title=\"The Complete Guide to Gina Carano\u2019s Post-MMA Career\">dates back<\/a> to the Revolutionary War, but largely fell into obscurity until recent years and is now a symbol of support for former President Donald J. Trump, for a religious strand of the \u2018Stop the Steal\u2019 campaign and for a push to remake American government in Christian terms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now, the majority of sensible Americans \u2014 yes, even New York Times subscribers \u2014 probably saw three people on the Alito-flag beat and the line about how the flag they found this time \u201cdates back to the Revolutionary War\u201d and, quite rightly, tuned out there. But sensible people don\u2019t get shows on CNN, which is why Wolf Blitzer dragged Bolton on \u201cThe Situation Room,\u201d assumedly to add some GOP gravitas to whatever argument they were making. They probably should have known better.<\/p>\n<p>When asked whether the flag \u201craise[d] concerns about whether [Alito] can impartially serve on the U.S. Supreme Court,\u201d Bolton said \u201cabsolutely not.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it is outrageous, outrageous and unacceptable for people to take a flag from the American Revolution and say that because some January 6th protesters flew it, that it\u2019s now unacceptable to fly that flag,\u201d Bolton said. \u201cAnd I\u2019d like to hear a Democratic Party politician say that expressly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe January 6th people flew a lot of flags,\u201d he added. \u201cThe Gadsden Flag \u2014 \u2018Don\u2019t Tread on Me\u2019 \u2014 they don\u2019t have the right or the ability to expropriate a patriotic symbol of the United States and then have everybody else say it belongs to them and condemn Sam Alito or anybody else for flying that flag.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/iranian-operative-charged-alleged-plot-assassinate-former-trump-administration-official-john-bolton\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bolton<\/a> went on to condemn \u201cthis rush to find some reason to criticize Alito.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Bolton defends second flag flown outside of Alito\u2019s vacation home\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zKEqts3_s80?start=175&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know, I first heard about the upside down American flag as being a January 6 symbol when I read about it in the New York Times about a week ago,\u201d Bolton told Blitzer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have no idea what was on Justice Alito\u2019s wife\u2019s mind when she flew it, but if somebody hadn\u2019t told me that they thought it was a symbol of the January 6th people. I wouldn\u2019t have guessed it. I would have thought maybe she was giving the finger to one of her neighbors, and that may not be appropriate either. But I\u2019m telling you, it\u2019s gotten to a point where people trying to take symbols of American patriotism and turn them against Supreme Court justices is over the line.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut should a U.S. Supreme Court justice be using these flags that clearly right now at least have some political implications as well as some history there?\u201d Blitzer shot back, adding that, \u201ccurrently, they have political implications.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey do not. No, that\u2019s just wrong. That is just wrong,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-anti-trump-john-bolton-tells-cnn-wont-vote-trump-biden-reveals-name-voted-2020-wholl-pick-now\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bolton<\/a> said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey do have political implications, both of these flags,\u201d Blitzer responded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, they don\u2019t have political implications for me,\u201d Bolton continued. \u201cIt\u2019s controversial for liberals \u2026 It\u2019s controversial for liberals who have it in for Sam Alito. It\u2019s not controversial for me, and I\u2019m as against Donald Trump as anybody I know in this country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There you go, and thank you for coming.<\/p>\n<p>Flag-gate was going to be a difficult sell anyway, considering that controversial flags \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/liberals-smearing-alito-upside-flag-story-real-point\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">including, yes, the upside-down flag<\/a> \u2014 have been part and parcel of liberal movements for years without the New York Times and CNN freaking out about violations of flag code. This is the kind of thing that only motivates ardent Democrats who were already going to dutifully cast their vote for Joe Biden and all associated candidates this November.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not Republicans and undecided voters who are going to think this is asinine. Even John Bolton, a professional NeverTrumper, believes this witch hunt to be prima facie preposterous.
