Responding To 10+ Homeless Tent Fires A Day\">assistant chief<\/a> last year.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>(The Center Square) \u2013\u00a0Seattle police Assistant Chief Tyrone Davis has been placed on paid administrative leave as the department sees a surge in internal issues.<\/p>\n<p>The Seattle Police Department confirmed the move to The Center Square on Friday and referred further questions to the Seattle Office of Police Accountability.<\/p>\n<p>According to a report from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seattletimes.com\/seattle-news\/law-justice\/seattle-assistant-police-chief-under-investigation-is-placed-on-leave\/?utm_source=marketingcloud&#038;utm_medium=email&#038;utm_campaign=BNA_052424185607+BREAKING+Seattle+assistant+police+chief+under+investigation_5_24_2024&#038;utm_term=Active%20subscriber\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>The Seattle Times<\/strong><\/a>, the investigation involves a complaint from the Community Police Commission, where Davis served as a department liaison.<\/p>\n<p>Davis first joined the Seattle Police Department in 1999. Last year, Davis was promoted to assistant chief of the department\u2019s Special Operations Bureau, which includes SWAT, hostage negotiations team, and the arson\/bomb squad.<\/p>\n<p>A recent <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.seattle.gov\/documents\/Departments\/Police\/Reports\/SPD_30_By_30_Report_09262023.pdf\">30\u00d730 report<\/a><\/strong> showed women at the Seattle Police Department describing gender discrimination and sexual harassment happening within the department.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, four female police officers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecentersquare.com\/washington\/article_92c46f34-0721-11ef-958b-278da6b542ce.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>filed a $5 million tort claim<\/strong><\/a> against the Seattle Police Department, alleging sex discrimination, sexual harassment and a hostile work environment. <\/p>\n<p>The four officers filed a claim of damages against the city on Friday, alleging the perpetrators of the \u201cgrooming\u201d and harassment are Chief Adrian Diaz, Lt. John O\u2019Neil and SPD\u2019s human resource manager, Rebecca McKechnie.<\/p>\n<p>Seattle City Councilmember Tammy Morales successfully implemented an <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/seattle.legistar.com\/View.ashx?M=F&#038;ID=12918884&#038;GUID=9BF730D7-69D5-4BE9-A2FB-6FD3A191303A\">amendment<\/a><\/strong> to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/texas-rep-lee-under-fire-for-restrictive-gun-control-policies\/\" title=\"Texas Rep. Lee under fire for restrictive gun control policies\">recent bill<\/a> to help recruit officers that requires SPD to regularly report on what it\u2019s doing to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/war-on-women-biden-white-house-fuels-gender-pay-gap\/\" title=\"War on Women: Biden White House Fuels Gender Pay Gap\">address gender discrimination<\/a> and its efforts to implement the 30\u00d730 initiative.<\/p>\n<p>SPD continues to struggle to recruit officers to the department.
