Stay informed about the dynamic political \u2064scene.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>This week\u2019s White House Report Card finds President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/joe-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Joe Biden<\/a> moving further to the left on climate regulation in vowing to ban gas stoves and reaching deeper into the federal treasury to buy votes of deadbeat college students and travelers looking for slightly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/gas-prices\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>cheaper gasoline<\/a> during their summer road trips.<\/p>\n<p>Still stuck in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3007618\/six-ways-2024-election-different-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>dead heat<\/a> with former President Donald Trump, Biden tried to buy more votes with his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/browbeating-the-white-house-stacey-abrams-warnock-pushing-biden-on-student-loan-forgiveness-to-fire-up-base-report\/\" title=\"\u2018Browbeating The White House\u2019: Stacey Abrams, Warnock Pushing Biden On Student Loan Forgiveness To Fire Up Base: Report\">student loan forgiveness plan<\/a> and move to tap the Strategic Oil Reserves. He has tried both before without winning any bounce in the polls.<\/p>\n<p>His team also wobbled on foreign policy, which was supposed to be his forte. In the Israel-Hamas war, there was no change in Gaza. And his government seemed to go out of its way to honor Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi killed in a helicopter crash. He was known as the \u201cButcher of Tehran\u201d for sponsoring \u201cdeath commissions\u201d to execute political prisoners.<\/p>\n<p>Our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/conservative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>conservative<\/a> grader, Jed Babbin, mocked the president\u2019s week with a grade of F and he highlighted the president\u2019s vow to veto legislation to stop the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/de-blasios-gas-stove-ban-was-intended-to-help-the-environment-experts-say-itll-backfire\/\" title=\"De Blasio\u2019s Gas Stove Ban Was Intended To Help the Environment. Experts Say It\u2019ll Backfire.\">gas stove ban<\/a>. \u201cIn his last joke on America this week, Biden threatened to veto legislation that would overturn his radical regulations on gas stoves and furnaces. Better buy \u2018em now, ladies and gents, before the regs take effect and it\u2019ll take an hour to boil water for spaghetti,\u201d said Babbin.<\/p>\n<p>Democratic pollster John Zogby was away for the holiday, but on his podcast with his son Jeremy Zogby, he said the presidential race is stuck, stalled, boring, and likely to stay that way.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jed Babbin<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>Grade:<\/span> <em>F<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>President Joe Biden held another vote-buying session, his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/United-Nations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>United Nations<\/a> ambassador stood for a moment of silence honoring dead Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and a few other things managed to keep him busy this week.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Biden has already reduced the Strategic Petroleum Reserve repeatedly to falsely reduce gasoline prices. He did it again this week, ordering the release of 1 million barrels of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/gas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>gasoline<\/a> from the Northeast reserve to depress gas prices so he wouldn\u2019t suffer political damage from the increased prices over the Memorial Day weekend. The SPR now holds about 362 million barrels, down from 565 million barrels in 2022 when Biden\u2019s anti-energy policies and resulting price hikes came in.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>And Old Joe spent another $7.7 billion in student loan forgiveness\u201d despite the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Supreme-Court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Supreme Court<\/a> ruling last year that said he had no authority to do that. No matter. The Democrats don\u2019t care about the law and the Constitution.<\/em><\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<p><em>We got the news this week that Mexican (and other) drug cartels are now operating in all 50 states. Another bonus given us by Biden\u2019s open border policy. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Biden is also reportedly talking to Iran in a desperate move to try to limit the escalation of the wars in the Middle East. As part of that inane policy, Biden\u2019s U.N. ambassador stood for the world body\u2019s minute of silence honoring the Butcher of Tehran, the late and unlamented President Raisi. Meanwhile, Ireland, Spain, and Norway said they\u2019d recognize Palestinian statehood. Where that \u201cstate\u201d is continues to be a mystery.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>In his last joke on America this week, Biden threatened to veto legislation that would overturn his radical regulations on gas stoves and furnaces. Better buy \u2018em now, ladies and gents, before the regs take effect and it\u2019ll take an hour to boil water for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/pasta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>spaghetti<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>John Zogby<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>Grade:<\/span> <em>Undecided.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On his podcast, Zogby sized up the race in the polls.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cSo here\u2019s what I\u2019m thinking. I\u2019m thinking that there\u2019s going to be a significant drop off in voter turnout come November. And I think for the reasons that you mentioned, not the least of which is fatigue. But the other thing is that it is reported on a daily and a weekly basis with aggregation of numbers that it\u2019s a close race nationally. Some days Biden\u2019s up in certain <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/polls\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>polls<\/a>, one, two, three, four points. Many days Trump is up by a similar amount. Here and there, an outlier. But the fundamentals are not changing. It\u2019s close. But it\u2019s not close between two beloved candidates. So when you look at the numbers, you know, there\u2019s five, six, seven percent who remain undecided, and I\u2019m just not sure where they\u2019re going to go.<\/em><\/p>\n<figure>\n<p> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Zogby Report | 05.24.24 - Are Likely Voters Today, the Likely Voters of Tomorrow?\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Cb_wvgw-vIo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p><em>\u201cAnd I\u2019m just not sure what\u2019s gonna ultimately be the basis of their decision.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe second thing is, We look at matters of trust and clearly the same numbers of Americans that don\u2019t trust Biden, don\u2019t trust Donald Trump, two different bases. It\u2019s kind of a reminder of Trump versus <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Hillary-Clinton\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Hillary Clinton<\/a> in 2016. On the day people actually voted, 37% trusted Donald Trump to tell the truth, 36% trusted Hillary Clinton to tell the truth.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThose numbers are even lower today for these two candidates. So where is the choice?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThirdly, and I and you\u2019re leading up to this that there\u2019s always in the past, the possibility of what we call a deus ex machina, a force from the outside and October surprise, a major revelation, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/daily-memo\/3014100\/who-is-the-victim-of-trumps-bookkeeping\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>guilty verdict<\/a>, a huge event of some sort.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cAnd those sorts of things have worked in the past, but I think we\u2019re so locked in, not only with alternative realities, but with alternative facts, plus the fact that so many people don\u2019t trust either of these candidates that a major event is just not likely to change things.
