Matthew Gil from the Department of Fish and Wildlife told KFSN.<\/p>\n<p> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"How to Rebury a Pismo Clam\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/D1Tysbc32Xs?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, though, Russ\u2019 story had a happy ending.<\/p>\n<p>After explaining the misunderstanding to a San Luis Obispo County judge, her fine was reduced from more than $88,000 to a mere $500.<\/p>\n<p>Not a small sum, to be sure, but definitely more manageable for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bidenomics-americans-taking-drastic-measures-keep-roof-heads-poll-shows\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">average American mother<\/a> than the original fine.<\/p>\n<p>Clearly, though, the five-figure fine for the innocent actions of Russ\u2019 children was grossly out of proportion to the offense.<\/p>\n<p>Though humans are called to be stewards of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/apple-accused-offering-worship-pagan-nature-god-new-iphone-launch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">God\u2019s creation<\/a>, the pursuit of good stewardship and wildlife conservation should be balanced by an understanding of human foibles and mistakes.<\/p>\n<p>The local judge thankfully exhibited the human side of the justice system, understanding that Russ and her children, not being locals, could easily mistake the clams for seashells and gather them up by mistake.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Was the initial $88,000 fine fair?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/venomous-new-creepy-crawly-discovered-america\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Responsible stewardship<\/a> involves creating laws and regulations that conserve the environment without forgetting the human quotient.<\/p>\n<p>Otherwise, more people will end up getting fined more than $88,000 for an honest mistake.<\/p>\n<p>It certainly made for a trip that Russ and her children are not likely to forget anytime soon.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>An Important Message from Our Staff:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>We who work here at The Western Journal have fought for years against Big Tech and the elites who want to shut us down and then shut America down. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Make no mistake \u2014 nothing will be the same after November 2024.
