This arrest\u200c followed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/video-exclusive-film-crew-releases-never-before-seen-footage-of-2017-inauguration-riots\/\" title=\"VIDEO EXCLUSIVE: Film Crew Releases Never Before Seen Footage of 2017 Inauguration Riots\">violent clash<\/a> between opposing groups at the university. \u200cThe University\u2062 of \u200bCalifornia,\u2062 Los Angeles Police Department recently arrested 18-year-old Edan On, \u200dwho faced charges of assault with a deadly weapon following an incident involving protesters on campus. \u200bNot affiliated with UCLA, On&#8217;s arrest came three \u2062weeks \u200bafter a violent clash between opposing groups at the university.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_78\">\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/ucla\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>University of California, Los Angeles<\/a> police department announced Friday that it has made an <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/crime\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>arrest<\/a> three weeks after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2986187\/violence-erupts-between-protester-groups-overnight-at-ucla-protests\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"violence broke out\">violence broke out<\/a> between protesters on campus.<\/p>\n<p>Edan On, 18, was arrested Thursday amid charges of assault with a deadly weapon. Officers claimed he had no affiliation with UCLA. He was allegedly among those who were caught on camera beating pro-Palestinian protesters with sticks. Most wore masks during the encounter, which could make identifying the suspects difficult.<\/p>\n<p>On was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/05\/16\/us\/ucla-student-protests-counterprotesters-invs\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"reportedly\">reportedly<\/a> identified by his own mother in a since-deleted Instagram post. She claimed he was the protester in a white hoodie and captioned a screenshot of him in Hebrew explaining he \u201cwent to bully the Palestinian students in the tents at UCLA and played the song that they played to the Nukhba terrorists in prison.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Those present captured videos of groups of people punching and kicking one another during the April 30 event. Over 2,300 protesters, many of whom were unaffiliated with the respective universities, have been arrested in attempts to clear encampments.<\/p>\n<p>UCLA in particular was forced to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2992161\/after-last-weeks-clashes-on-campus-ucla-will-resume-in-person-classes-on-monday\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"temporarily pause classes\">pause classes temporarily<\/a> when protests became too violent.
