<\/header>\n<section>\n<p>A disgraced former prosecutor won\u2019t see any jail time after being convicted of three criminal offenses.<\/p>\n<p>Marilyn Mosby, a Democrat who served as Baltimore state\u2019s attorney, received one year of home detention and three years of supervised release in a Thursday sentencing hearing, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baltimoresun.com\/2024\/05\/23\/marilyn-mosby-sentencing-perjury-mortgage-fraud\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Baltimore Sun<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors had sought a prison sentence of 20 months in the case, and sentencing guidelines called for Mosby to spend 12 to 18 months in prison.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. District Judge Lydia Kay Griggsby instead decided to let the defendant avoid any time behind bars.<\/p>\n<p>Griggsby \u2014 who was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdd.uscourts.gov\/lydia-kay-griggsby-district-judge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nominated<\/a> to the federal bench by President Joe Biden \u2014 said she was lenient largely because Mosby is \u201ca mother of two daughters.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">WATCH: Marilyn href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FOXBaltimore\/status\/1793743505711329498?\">May 23, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Mosby had been convicted of mortgage fraud earlier this year in addition to two counts of perjury in November.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-md\/pr\/former-baltimore-city-states-attorney-marilyn-mosby-convicted-two-counts-perjury\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">accused<\/a> her of illegally raiding funds from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/remains-collapsed-baltimore-key-bridge-erupt-setting-off-explosives\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Baltimore\u2019s<\/a> Deferred Compensation Plan in the latter case.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Is there pro-Democrat bias within our justice system?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/baltimore-breaks-record-annual-homicides-per-capita\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mosby<\/a> had cited the financial impacts of the coronavirus pandemic in that case, claiming she\u2019d lost income as a result.<\/p>\n<p>In reality, her salary as city prosecutor increased to a grand total of $247,955.58 at the time of the request, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wbaltv.com\/article\/marilyn-mosby-indicted-baltimore\/36901609\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WBAL-TV<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Both criminal cases were federal convictions, according to a\u00a0Department of Justice <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-md\/pr\/former-baltimore-city-states-attorney-marilyn-j-mosby-sentenced-twelve-months-home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news release<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Democrat was convicted of making false statements in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-nominee-with-ties-to-environmental-terrorists-violated-ethics-rules-by-concealing-finances-watchdog-group-says\/\" title=\"Biden was also ordered to surrender 90 percent of the property value she acquired with the fraudulently obtained mortgage.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">BREAKING: Marilyn Mosby, Former primary election after being federally charged, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/2022-midterm-elections-covid-health-general-marilyn-mosby-1742b1a284798e76a89f974cd8c5e497\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The disgraced former prosecutor has previously asserted her innocence of the charges \u2014 even after being convicted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve done nothing wrong.
