Law firms initiated the suit in Manhattan federal court post the public disclosure of \u2064the DOJ&#8217;s inquiry into Live Nation. \u200dThe\u2062 legal representatives\u200d are pursuing $5 million in damages for former\u200b clients of Ticketmaster.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_78\">\n<p>Live Nation is now facing a <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/class-action-lawsuits\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>class-action suit<\/a> seeking damages after a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/3014975\/doj-sues-live-nation-ticketmaster-for-violating-antitrust-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"previous lawsuit\">previous lawsuit<\/a> from the <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/doj\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Department of Justice<\/a> was announced this week.<\/p>\n<p>Law firms Robbins Geller Rudman Dowd and Israel David filed their suit in Manhattan federal court late Thursday after the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/3014975\/doj-sues-live-nation-ticketmaster-for-violating-antitrust-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"DOJ's investigation into Live Nation \">DOJ\u2019s investigation into Live Nation <\/a>went public and hours after Attorney General Merrick Garland confirmed in a press conference that the department was suing the company. Attorneys are seeking $5 million in damages for previous clients of Ticketmaster.<\/p>\n<p>This comes over 10 years after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/news\/general-news\/ticketmaster-customer-refunds-lawsuit-settlement-concert-tickets-269733\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Ticketmaster paid each of its customers\">Ticketmaster paid each of its customers<\/a> as much as $25 in credit toward future purchases as part of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/medical-employees-win-historic-10-million-settlement-in-case-against-covid-mandates\/\" title=\"Medical Employees Win Historic  Million Settlement in Case Against COVID Mandates\">class action settlement<\/a> from 2011. In 2003, the company faced allegations of overcharging customers and opted to settle rather than take the matter to court.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> reached the involved law firms for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Now Live Nation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/justice-department-sues-live-nation-ticketmaster-monopolizing-markets-across-live-concert\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">stands accused of violating<\/a> Section 2 of the Sherman Act due to allegations of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/doj-sues-live-nation-ticketmaster-for-violating-antitrust-law\/\" title=\"Department of Justice files lawsuit against Live Nation-Ticketmaster for antitrust violations\">acquiring competing event promoters<\/a> and forcing venues and artists alike into exclusionary contracts for as long as 10 years in some cases. Garland claimed it controls 80% of ticket sales to major concert venues, has contracts with 400 entertainers, and owns or controls 60% of amphitheaters. As a result, Garland said, \u201cIt is time to break it up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Live Nation pointed to its 1.4% annual net profit as a reason it does not consider itself a monopoly in a statement to the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>. The lawsuit, according to the company, will only serve as a \u201cPR win for the DOJ in the short term\u201d and forgot that the Obama administration approved of Live Nation\u2019s acquisition of Ticketmaster at the time.<\/p>\n<p>Its executive vice president, Dan Wall, warned that the lawsuit will not lower prices or fees as prices are set by artists and fees are determined by venues.
