Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) expressed his surprise upon learning that his article was taken \u2062down for &#8220;inflammatory&#8221; language. Kennedy criticized USA Today for what he sees as \u2062restricting \u200bfreedom of expression and taking on a moralistic role, eroding trust in the media. The op-ed questioned the prioritization of transgender inclusion over\u2062 women&#8217;s sports.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A Republican senator\u2019s opinion column about keeping biological males out of women\u2019s sports was removed from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/usa-today\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">USA Today<\/a>\u2019s network of newspapers because of his \u201cloaded language.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sen. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/john-kennedy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">John Kennedy<\/a> (R-LA) learned that a column he wrote about protecting women\u2019s sports had been removed from several USA Today Network newspapers because of \u201cinflammatory\u201d language out of the paper\u2019s editorial standards, Fox News <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/usa-today-newspapers-quietly-delete-gop-senators-op-ed-trans-athletes-without-telling-him\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">reported<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  Friday. Kennedy told the outlet that he was not aware that the column had been removed until he was informed of broken links to the article.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Kennedy told Fox that the \u201cUSA TODAY Network apparently does not like the way I express myself.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThey think they are the speech police. Drunk on certainty and virtue, they think they are our moral teacher. This attitude is why so many Americans have lost confidence in the media. The media is not going to win that trust back until they return to neutrality instead of advocacy,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The article, titled \u201cIs transgender inclusion more important than women\u2019s sports?\u201d had been published on May 11 by several Louisiana-based papers owned by Gannett, the parent company of USA Today.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cMen and women don\u2019t compete for the same reasons,\u201d the Republican senator said in his column. \u201cYet transgender activists want athletic institutions to ignore these obvious physical differences so transgender athletes can feel included, even if it hurts biological girls in the process.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Gannett Opinion Editor and Vice President of Standards and Ethics Michael McCarter said that Kennedy\u2019s column did not meet the company\u2019s \u201cethical standard\u201d and that he had been given a chance to \u201crevise his language.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe recognize the importance of sharing varying perspectives and the vital role we play convening conversations,\u201d McCarter said. \u201cSen. John Kennedy\u2019s submitted opinion column did not meet our ethical guidelines, which state we will treat people with respect. After further review, our editorial team removed the column from our website. Sen.
