He was a former smoker who quit before he embarked on his one-month binge of purely McDonald\u2019s meals for three meals, which he turned into a movie. At the time, the fast food chain had the option to \u201csupersize\u201d any meal into its largest possible size, which Spurlock accepted whenever asked. His documentary eventually led to the end of the practice and an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/oscars\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Oscar nod.\">Oscar nod.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a sad day, as we said goodbye to my brother Morgan,\u201d Craig Spurlock said in a statement. \u201cMorgan gave so much through his art, ideas, and generosity. The world has lost a true creative genius and a special man. I am so proud to have worked together with him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSad to hear my friend and filmmaker Morgan Spurlock passed away yesterday from cancer. He helped produce other documentaries about everything from <em>The Simpsons<\/em> to voting to superheroes.
