Despite claims of AI awareness, legal actions and fines \u2062ensued, \u2062marking an unprecedented integration of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-ai-most-dangerous-thing-out-there\/\" title=\"Trump: AI is the biggest threat\">deep-fake tech<\/a> in politics.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/news\/\">  News <\/a>   <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/johnathanjones\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/johnathanjones\/%20\"><span>Johnathan Jones<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   May 24, 2024 at 5:05am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>A Democratic political consultant was indicted on Wednesday after he admitted he was behind a bizarre series of robocalls that urged New Hampshire voters not to cast ballots in the state\u2019s GOP primary in January.<\/p>\n<p>The calls told voters to instead save their energy for November so they could re-elect Democrats \u2014 and the voice on the other end of the line sounded enough like President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/newly-released-text-messages-dont-look-good-hunter-joe-biden-great-exhibit-nonsense-lies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Joe Biden<\/a> that a Democratic consultant was charged with impersonating a political candidate.<\/p>\n<p>Steve Kramer also was charged with 13 felony counts of voter suppression in indictments that were handed down from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/msnbc-melts-trump-makes-history-new-hampshire-breaks-multiple-records\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the state\u2019s<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fncs-dean-msm-coverage-of-cuomo-was-puff-pieces-while-there-were-bodybags-piling-up\/\" title=\"FNC's Dean: MSM Coverage of Cuomo Was 'Puff Pieces' While 'There Were Bodybags Piling up'\">attorney general\u2019<\/a>s office, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wmur.com\/article\/steve-kramer-ai-robocalls-biden-indictment-52224\/60875422\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WMUR-TV<\/a> in Manchester, New Hampshire, reported.<\/p>\n<p>He was also hit with a proposed $6 million fine from the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.fcc.gov\/public\/attachments\/DOC-402762A1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Communications Commission<\/a> for \u201capparent spoofing violations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The charges involve 13 residents in four counties who received the calls.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/politics-news\/steve-kramer-admitted-deepfaking-bidens-voice-new-hampshire-primary-rcna153626\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NBC News<\/a>, at the time of the calls, Kramer had a six-figure contract with Democratic Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/dem-candidate-challenging-biden-unloads-reporters-not-asking-questions-americans-care\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dean Phillips<\/a> of Minnesota, who focused on New Hampshire in his longshot primary campaign against Biden. Both men said Phillips had no knowledge of the robocall campaign.<\/p>\n<p>One woman who said she received one of the robocalls told WMUR she was confused by what she heard.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt sounded like Joe Biden, and I was like, \u2018That\u2019s weird,\u2019 and then as I listened more, I\u2019m like, \u2018It doesn\u2019t really sound like Joe Biden,&#8217;\u201d New Hampshire voter Krista Zurek said.<\/p>\n<p>Kramer did not deny being behind the calls while speaking to the outlet but said he only organized them to alert people of the dangers of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-democratic-congressman-admits-speech-written-artificial-intelligence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">artificial intelligence<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">NEWS: Steve Kramer, the political consultant then-working for Dean Phillips who admitted to me that he commissioned the Biden deepfake robocall, has been indicted. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/cQxI061hq8\">https:\/\/t.co\/cQxI061hq8<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Alex Seitz-Wald (@aseitzwald) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/aseitzwald\/status\/1793402232253120586?\">May 22, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He said that if law enforcement officers wished to come after him for the robocalls they should \u201cbring it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Republican New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella brought it Wednesday when he charged Kramer and said his state would not tolerate attempts at what he classified as election interference.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNew Hampshire remains committed to ensuring that our elections remain free from unlawful interference and our investigation into this matter remains ongoing,\u201d Formella said in a statement, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/technology\/4681403-joe-biden-fake-robocall-new-hampshire-political-consultant-indicted\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Hill<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The calls featured <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/new-hampshire-voters-confused-receive-calls-voice-sounds-like-biden-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a voice that mimicked Biden\u2019s<\/a> urging support for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-democrats-denial-crushed-trump-polls\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Democrats<\/a> this fall.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know the value of voting Democratic when our votes count,\u201d the Biden-like voice told Granite State voters. \u201cIt\u2019s important that you save your vote for the November election. We\u2019ll need your help in electing Democrats up and down the ticket.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVoting this Tuesday only enables the Republicans in their quest to elect Donald Trump again. Your vote makes a difference in November, not this Tuesday.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">NBC reports that NH voters are getting robocalls with a deepfake of Biden\u2019s voice telling them to not vote tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cit\u2019s important that you save your vote for the November election.\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/LAOKRtDanK\">https:\/\/t.co\/LAOKRtDanK<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/wzm0PcaN6H\">pic.twitter.com\/wzm0PcaN6H<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Alex Thompson (@AlexThomp) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AlexThomp\/status\/1749432442258083882?\">January 22, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-york-sues-amazon-over-alleged-worker-exploitation-amid-pandemic\/\" title=\"New York Sues Amazon Over Alleged Worker \u2018Exploitation\u2019 Amid Pandemic\">state attorney general\u2019<\/a>s office said at the time it was taking the matter seriously.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese messages appear\u00a0to be an unlawful attempt to disrupt the New Hampshire Presidential Primary Election and to suppress New Hampshire voters,\u201d Formella\u2019s office said in January in a statement to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2024-election\/fake-joe-biden-robocall-tells-new-hampshire-democrats-not-vote-tuesday-rcna134984\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NBC News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>His office added, \u201cNew Hampshire voters should disregard the content of this message entirely.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Do you think this fall&#8217;s election will be secure?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>According to The Hill, the calls were the first known instance of deep-fake technology intertwining with American politics.<\/p>\n<p>A month after the calls took place, Kramer told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2024-election\/democratic-operative-admits-commissioning-fake-biden-robocall-used-ai-rcna140402\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NBC News<\/a> that he wanted to testify publicly about why he placed the calls.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not afraid to testify, I know why I did everything,\u201d he said. \u201cIf a House oversight committee wants me to testify, I\u2019m going to demand they put it on TV because I know more than them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kramer also compared himself to American Revolutionary War hero <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/homeless-man-accused-ruining-paul-reveres-tombstone-one-man-crime-spree\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Paul Revere<\/a> in the sense that he acted selflessly to alert people of impending danger.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a way for me to make a difference, and I have,\u201d told the network. \u201cFor $500, I got about $5 million worth of action, whether that be media attention or regulatory action.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>\u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d Those 12 words have been stuck in my head since I first read them. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Former Lt.
