Attacks on education, including political works deemed obscene, are, to use a clich\u00e9, canaries in the fascist coal mine,\u201d writes Jason Stanley, the Jacob Urowsky professor of philosophy at Yale University, in a recent <a href=\"https:\/\/newrepublic.com\/article\/181274\/end-civic-compassion\">article<\/a> for The New Republic titled \u201cThe End of Civic Compassion: On Education in a Fascist America.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-19983922\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-072c8041f405df61db252deacb16b4b9 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-072c8041f405df61db252deacb16b4b9\"><\/div>\n<p>The projection here is breathtaking.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrump has made it abundantly clear that a far-right attack on education will be central to his new administration from its beginning, promising to \u2018sign a new executive order to cut federal funding for any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/watch-trump-reveals-top-priority-plan-for-schools-expel-the-communists-and-terrible-people\/\" title=\"Trump's 'Top Priority' Plan for Schools: Expel Communists and Terrible Individuals\">school pushing critical race theory<\/a>, transgender insanity, and other inappropriate racial, sexual, or political content on our children,\u2019\u201d Stanley continues. <\/p>\n<p>According to Stanley, the GOP\u2019s claims about \u201cMarxist indoctrination\u201d in schools and its push for parental rights is nothing more than a smokescreen to foster an \u201cilliberal public culture\u201d with American education, akin to fascist tactics throughout the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-introduces-bill-to-decriminalize-psychedelic-drugs\/\" title=\"California Introduces Bill To Decriminalize Psychedelic Drugs\">early 20th century<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Marxist Conquest<\/h2>\n<p>The reality is that the American education system has been the primary target of Marxist conquest since the late 1960s. While its revolutionary agenda has been thoroughly documented, it has most recently been exposed by <a href=\"https:\/\/christopherrufo.com\/\">Christopher Rufo<\/a> in his insightful work, <em>America\u2019s Cultural Revolution<\/em>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-6dbc741aa1a2a7f4fe5cb9fa13124596 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-6dbc741aa1a2a7f4fe5cb9fa13124596\"><\/div>\n<p>After Marxist-Leninist militant groups such as the Black Panther Party and Weather Underground failed to violently overthrow America\u2019s foundational institutions, the revolutionaries put down their rifles and picked up their pencils, moving their revolution from the streets into the classrooms.<\/p>\n<p>This movement was heavily influenced by a Brazilian Marxist <a href=\"https:\/\/daily.jstor.org\/paulo-freires-pedagogy-of-the-oppressed-at-fifty\/\">educator<\/a> and thinker, Paulo Freire, whose work on \u201cliberation pedagogy\u201d revolutionized the U.S. education system.<\/p>\n<p>According to this new approach to education, the first goal was for students to attain \u201ccritical consciousness,\u201d which refers to the ability of individuals to critically analyze and understand the social, political, and economic forces that shape one\u2019s life and the world around them. <\/p>\n<p>Stanley alludes to this method when he states, \u201cEducation in a liberal democracy introduces students to the diverse perspectives through a nation\u2019s history, in order for people to foster a kind of empathy and understanding for one another.\u201d <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-a58c211ee8adc36c0c588e58432c2cfc fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-a58c211ee8adc36c0c588e58432c2cfc\"><\/div>\n<p>It\u2019s important to understand that one of the primary goals of Marxist indoctrination is to weaponize empathy and compassion and channel it to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sorry-mr-president-10-reasons-don-lemon-is-not-one-of-the-most-informed-journalists-in-the-country\/\" title=\"Sorry, Mr. President: 10 Reasons Don Lemon Is Not \u2018One Of The Most Informed Journalists In The Country\u2019\">achieve political ends<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>As such, liberation pedagogy, today more commonly referred to as \u201ccritical theory,\u201d involves developing a deep awareness of society\u2019s power and oppression structures while understanding how those structures influence individual experiences and opportunities, or the lack thereof.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Critical Theory and DEI<\/h2>\n<p>Once students attain critical consciousness, the emphasis shifts to putting the lessons they\u2019ve learned into practice. They are encouraged to apply their critical understanding of social issues in real-world contexts and engage in action-oriented approaches to bring about social change.<\/p>\n<p>With its emphasis on race, sexual identity, and sexual orientation, critical theory has become intricately linked to social justice movements through the three-headed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/topic\/Cerberus\">Cerberus<\/a> of \u201cdiversity, equity, and inclusion\u201d (DEI). <\/p>\n<p>Education curricula across the country, most notably in Democrat-controlled states, now integrate DEI and other radical ideological theories, such as social and emotional learning, into all facets of education, with devastating effects on social cohesion and traditional test <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2023\/06\/21\/1183445544\/u-s-reading-and-math-scores-drop-to-lowest-level-in-decades\">scores<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>One such example of this new approach to \u201ceducation\u201d can be found in New York through its \u201cCulturally Responsive-Sustaining Education Framework,\u201d where the unquestioned virtue of \u201cdiversity\u201d (e.g., race, social class, sexual identity, language, sexual orientation, nationality, religion, and ability) is regarded as an asset for teaching and learning.<\/p>\n<p>Within this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nysed.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/programs\/crs\/culturally-responsive-sustaining-education-framework.pdf\">framework<\/a>, the New York Education Department <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nysed.gov\/crs\/framework\">believes<\/a> that \u201ceducation providers throughout the United States have struggled to meet the diverse needs of American children and families\u201d because \u201ca complex system of biases and structural inequities is deeply rooted in our country\u2019s history, culture, and institutions,\u201d and so \u201cthis system of inequity must be clearly understood, directly challenged, and fundamentally transformed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As such, students are encouraged to identify the power structures that generate inequities within our culture and to challenge these institutions to redress historical and contemporary oppression directly. This allows the student to become both \u201csociopolitically conscious\u201d and \u201csocioculturally responsive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Of course, this ultimately raises the question: conscious of and responsive to what?<\/p>\n<p>The short answer: \u201cwhiteness\u201d and \u201cwhite supremacy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Exposing and dismantling \u201cwhite supremacy\u201d within the United States is central to today\u2019s critical approach to education. Identifying the systemic advantages, biases, and norms that supposedly benefit whites as a group \u2014 at the expense of \u201cpeople of color\u201d \u2014 lies at the heart of the neo-Marxist framework that divides groups into categories of oppressor and oppressed.<\/p>\n<p>As such, DEI initiatives within American education seek to attack \u201cwhiteness\u201d from the bottom up while the graduates of these higher education indoctrination programs dismantle \u201cwhiteness\u201d from the top down through the legal system, administrative state, corporate governance, and human resource departments. <\/p>\n<p>Despite the recent successful <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2024\/01\/20\/us\/dei-woke-claremont-institute.html\">pushback<\/a> from conservative activists and politicians, DEI remains the primary means of leftist indoctrination for America\u2019s children, starting as early as kindergarten.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Epicenter of Indoctrination<\/h2>\n<p>With America\u2019s educational transformation well underway, what does the current political and cultural landscape look like? Judging by events like the 2020 George Floyd riots and recent anti-Israel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/business\/live-news\/columbia-yale-student-protests-4-23-24\/index.html\">protests<\/a> across elite universities such as Yale, Harvard, Columbia, and New York University, widespread critical consciousness among students has been attained.<\/p>\n<p>Although organizations like the Weather Underground and the original Black Panther Party are no longer in existence, \u201csocial justice\u201d movements such as Free Palestine, Black Lives Matter, and LGBT pride have emerged as the vanguard of leftist activism, and it is through the American education system that these groups receive their ideological training and direction.<\/p>\n<p>The left views the American university system as \u201cthe crown jewel of the world\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/5-disturbing-reports-of-college-professors-selling-american-secrets-to-china\/\" title=\"5 Disturbing Reports Of College Professors Selling American Secrets To China\">higher education system<\/a>.\u201d However, in reality, the American university system serves as the epicenter of the left\u2019s radical indoctrination efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Fearmongering about \u201cfascism\u201d from figures like Stanley is designed to distract Americans from recognizing the ideological poison that has infected the American education system.<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s pledge to cut federal funding for any school promoting critical race theory, gender ideology, and other racially, sexually, or politically charged content would serve as a much-needed antiviral to the ideological contagion sweeping the nation.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-a73abd0999e530e6b6586aa01be3864a fdrlst__b89e9-after-post-content\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-a73abd0999e530e6b6586aa01be3864a\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">    \t\t\t\t\t   \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The left warns of the impact of a potential second Trump term on education, fearing a move towards fascism.
