They argue that the treaty could \u200dinfringe on\u2062 states&#8217; sovereignty and civil liberties, giving unprecedented authority to \u2063unelected global officials. The \u2062WHO&#8217;s past handling of the COVID origins investigation adds to\u200d the skepticism.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A group of 24 Republican governors are urging the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/biden-administration\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Biden administration<\/a> to reject a proposed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/world-health-organization\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">World Health Organization<\/a> (WHO) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/world-health-organization-debates-global-pandemic-treaty\/\" title=\"World Health Organization Debates Global \u2018Pandemic Treaty\u2019\">global \u201cpandemic treaty<\/a>,\u201d warning that it would endanger the rights of American citizens.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The governors <a href=\"https:\/\/governor.sc.gov\/sites\/governor\/files\/Documents\/5.22.24%20Final%20Joint%20Letter%20WHO%20Pandemic%20Treaty.pdf\">wrote<\/a> on Wednesday that the WHO\u2019s proposal would encroach on the sovereignty of American states and put the civil liberties of Americans in the hands of a group of unelected global officials. The WHO has been widely criticized over its investigation of COVID\u2019s emergence, especially as it pushed out a report that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/top-who-scientist-behind-report-questioning-covid-lab-leak-theory-axed-over-alleged-sexual-misconduct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">declared<\/a> the COVID lab leak theory as \u201cextremely unlikely.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe objective of these instruments is to empower the WHO, particularly its uncontrollable Director-General, with the authority to restrict the rights of U.S. citizens, including freedoms such as speech, privacy, travel, choice of medical care, and informed consent, thus violating our Constitution\u2019s core principles,\u201d the governors wrote. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/apps.who.int\/gb\/inb\/pdf_files\/inb9\/A_inb9_3Rev1-en.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">draft<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  of the WHO proposal, participating countries \u201cshall cooperate with one another, in bilateral, regional and multilateral settings, to progressively strengthen pandemic prevention and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/how-to-show-lockdowns-are-killing-more-people-than-the-virus\/\" title=\"How To Show Lockdowns Are Killing More People Than The Virus\">public health<\/a> surveillance capacities.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The agreeing countries are also told to \u201crecognize that environmental, climatic, social, anthropogenic and economic factors increase the risk of pandemics and endeavour to identify these factors and take them into consideration in the development and implementation of relevant policies, strategies and measures at the international, regional and national levels.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Legacy media fact-checkers have downplayed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/how-the-who-is-using-a-covid-19-pandemic-treaty-to-create-a-new-global-health-security-architecture\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">concerns<\/a> about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/governors-say-no-way-to-biden-plans-to-empower-pro-china-health-organization\/\" title=\"Governors Say \u2018No Way\u2019 to Biden Plans To Empower Pro-China Health Organization\">pandemic agreement<\/a>, but the governors argued that joining the agreement would pose risks for the United States.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIf adopted, these agreements would seek to elevate the WHO from an advisory body to a global authority in public health,\u201d they wrote. \u201cUnder the proposed amendments and treaty, the WHO\u2019s Director-General would supposedly gain unilateral power to declare a \u2018public health emergency of international concern\u2019 (PHEIC) in member nations, extending beyond pandemics to include a range of perceived emergencies.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1714657703188000&#038;usg=AOvVaw0-8IzS3B7axoRMsynY0m75\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Additional concerns arise regarding the establishment of a global surveillance infrastructure and requirements for member states to censor speech related to public health, potentially facilitating the proliferation of biological weapons,\u201d the governors added. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The governors of Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming signed the letter. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Negotiators are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/healthcare-pharmaceuticals\/pandemic-treaty-talks-wire-likely-miss-first-deadline-sources-say-2024-05-10\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">still working<\/a> on coming up with the final \u201cpandemic agreement\u201d guidelines after a missed deadline for wrapping up talks.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>24 Republican governors urge Biden administration to reject WHO&#8217;s proposed global &#8220;pandemic treaty,&#8221; citing risks to American citizens&#8217; rights.
