Their defiance against COVID regulations stands as a symbol of hope for businesses resisting governmental directives.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/commentary\/\">  Commentary <\/a>  <\/p>\n<h2>Gym Owners Who Stood Firm Against COVID Tyrants Get Amazing News<\/h2>\n<p> <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/aanton\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/aanton\/%20\"><span>Allison Anton<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   May 23, 2024 at 1:04pm <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>The draconian COVID regulations caused untold misery for the millions of Americans forced to endure them.<\/p>\n<p>Innumerable businesses, especially small, local businesses, suffered just as much, if not more, as their sources of income were ruthlessly cut off indefinitely for the sake of \u201cslowing the spread.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now, four years removed from the infamous lockdowns, one of those businesses that was unfairly persecuted for remaining open during those lockdowns has finally received some justice.<\/p>\n<p>As reported by Philadelphia NBC News outlet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcphiladelphia.com\/news\/local\/nj-gym-owner-pandemic-lockdown-cleared\/3865606\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WCAU-TV<\/a>, the owners of Atilis Gym in Bellmawr, New Jersey, Frank Trumbetti and Ian Smith, have been cleared of the 80 charges and summonses brought against them by the government of New Jersey.<\/p>\n<p>According to WCAU, while Trumbetti and Smith had initially closed their gym back in March of 2020, after two months, they decided to reopen. That\u2019s when they suffered the wrath of the state of New Jersey, including that of Gov. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/democratic-mayor-furious-buses-illegal-immigrants-show-city-says-not-welcome\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Phil Murphy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Trumbetti told the outlet that \u201c1,528 days ago, they actually shut us down, asked for 14 days to flatten the curve. When we opened up, we felt like we were doing something to help people.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Should there be criminal charges against COVID tyrants?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Unfortunately, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-admin-rolling-pandemic-2-0-preparations-cnn-barks-break-masks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">COVID cops<\/a> failed to \u201cfollow the science\u201d regarding the health benefits that come with working out, and so began Trumbetti and Smith\u2019s\u00a0 fierce battle against state officials.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox29.com\/news\/owners-new-jersey-gym-defied-covid-shutdown-say-theyre-cleared-summons\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WTXF-TV<\/a>, the charges Trumbetti and Smith faced included violating a governor\u2019s orders, creating a public nuisance and disturbing the peace. The two of them were forced to pay about $269,000 in fines and court fees before the charges were finally dropped.<\/p>\n<p>The ruling was made on April 24, WCAU reported. It became final after the state let a week go by without appealing.<\/p>\n<p>Co-owner Smith, whose X bio reads \u201cDumb NJ meathead who didn\u2019t close his gym,\u201d took to social media to celebrate this win in a lengthy <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/iansmithfitness\/status\/1791875792827240949\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">post<\/a>. <strong><em>(WARNING: The linked post contains graphic language that some may find offensive.)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Smith wrote, \u201c4 years ago today, we reopened Atilis Gym in direct violation of an unconstitutional order by Governor Philip Murphy to close small businesses in New Jersey. The support we received locally, nationally, and internationally for our stand is something I will be forever grateful for.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">The owner of Atilis Gym in Bellmawr, NJ, has been cleared of dozens of charges after he violated Gov. ALL OF THE 80+ municipal citations of violations of a governor\u2019s order, public nuisance, disturbing the peace, and operating without a license against us have been dropped by the courts WITH prejudice. This means the State has NO ability to revist or refile these charges.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That said, he clarified that \u201cThis victory opens the battlefield again and gives us options to continue to push back and bring justice to the treasonous actions of Phil Murphy and his lackies,\u201d concluding that \u201cNobody is coming to save you, save yourself. Spit on your hands and hoist the black flag. They Want Him Gone.\">big-box stores<\/a> were free to conduct business as usual.<\/p>\n<p>The COVID overlords knew masks were ineffective, have admitted that the six-foot <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-biden-cnn-host-ditch-social-distancing-charade-soon-think-camera-cuts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social distancing<\/a> rule was more or less made up, and the lockdowns did nothing to mitigate the spread of a disease that was harmless for the majority of the population.<\/p>\n<p>Those who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/covid-lockdowns-exploded-alcohol-deaths-nearly-1-3-bureaucrats-blood-hands\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stood firm<\/a> are, thankfully, now seeing themselves vindicated.<\/p>\n<p>But very few of them will get the legal vindication of the Atilis gym.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>\u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d Those 12 words have been stuck in my head since I first read them. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Former Lt.
