The footage doesn&#8217;t conclusively support\u2063 the police&#8217;s claims against the top golfer. Scheffler faces charges but denies any wrongdoing. The videos shed light on the controversial\u2064 events leading to his detainment. The videos illuminate \u2062the contentious circumstances\u200c surrounding his\u2063 apprehension.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/news\/\">  News <\/a>    <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/johnathanjones\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/johnathanjones\/%20\"><span>Johnathan Jones<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   May 23, 2024 at 11:52am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>The Louisville Metropolitan Police Department released a pair of videos Thursday morning of the incident outside of last week\u2019s PGA Championship that resulted in the arrest of professional golfer Scottie Scheffler.<\/p>\n<p>Neither of the videos appears to conclusively back up <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/wild-gets-world-no-1-golfer-scottie-scheffler-detained-police-shortly-pga-championship-tee-time\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the department\u2019s<\/a> claim that the world\u2019s top golfer ignored a police officer\u2019s commands and dragged him with a vehicle last Friday outside Valhalla Golf Club in the city.<\/p>\n<p>The clips also don\u2019t offer much aid to Scheffler, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/s-d-gov-calls-for-ag-resignation-as-ag-faces-criminal-charges-linked-to-2020-fatal-car-crash\/\" title=\"S.D. Gov. calls for AG resignation as AG faces criminal charges linked to 2020 fatal car crash\">faces criminal charges<\/a> but has denied any wrongdoing.<\/p>\n<p>Scheffler <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/worlds-top-golfer-scottie-scheffler-tells-side-story-stunning-arrest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">was arrested<\/a> by LMPD officer Bryan Gillis, who claimed in <a href=\"https:\/\/louisville-police.org\/DocumentCenter\/View\/3913\/scheffler-incident\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a memo<\/a> also released by the department Thursday morning that he informed Scheffler to stop before he was \u201cdragged\u201d and \u201cknocked down\u201d by the golf pro.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, the officer was working the scene of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/police-officer-who-arrested-scottie-scheffler-faces-corrective-action-for-not-using-bodycam\/\" title=\"Officer who detained Scottie Scheffler faces disciplinary action for not using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-deputy-said-he-was-shot-in-line-of-duty-he-shot-himself\/\" title=\"California Deputy Said He Was Shot In Line Of Duty. He Shot Himself.\">body camera<\/a>&#8220;>fatal traffic accident involving<\/a> a man and a bus.<\/p>\n<p>One video shared from a nearby pole-mounted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/security-camera-video-shows-top-rapper-savagely-abusing-former-girlfriend\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">security camera<\/a> caught the moment Scheffler drove past police security to enter the golf club.<\/p>\n<p>At the 29-second mark in the video below, a vehicle believed to have been driven by Scheffler can be seen entering the club entrance (in the upper left portion of the screen) as an officer slapped the side of his car.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mnWeQfNMLmM?si=FtQmWBsf-FoASuU1\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>From the clip shared by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/us-police-department-begin-using-chinese-drones-response-911-calls\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">police<\/a>, it appeared Scheffler stopped immediately after an officer pounded on his door.<\/p>\n<p>Another video released by the department was from a police cruiser dash camera that also does not offer a lot of help.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1zsHN_SohUU?si=0wClouHN7Z61kAoV\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Another version published by WFAA-TV shows a zoomed-in view that provides more detail, including an officer appearing to run up to the car\u2019s window, pound on it, and later reach into the vehicle through the window before the driver is removed and taken into custody.<\/p>\n<p> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Scottie Scheffler arrest video: Both camera angles from Louisville police\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ffHkUqbcJIU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>According to the department, Gillis did not turn on his body camera before the interaction.<\/p>\n<p>Because of that, neither the department nor the public has a better view of the incident. The LMPD \u00a0said a supervisor spoke with the officer about ensuring his body camera is on in the future.<\/p>\n<p>Scheffler was charged with felony second-degree assault on a police officer and with misdemeanors including third<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/portland-charges-suspected-antifa-members-for-riot-that-damaged-democratic-party-headquarters\/\" title=\"Portland Charges Suspected Antifa Members For Riot That Damaged Democratic Party Headquarters\">-degree criminal mischief<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The golfer said in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/worlds-top-golfer-scottie-scheffler-tells-side-story-stunning-arrest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a statement<\/a> after he was arrested he was merely following the instructions he had been given, which were to drive past security to enter the club.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Does this footage change your opinion of Scottie Scheffler\u2019s arrest?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>He also admitted he was unaware there had been an accident.<\/p>\n<p>Scheffler was let out of jail hours after his arrest and made his scheduled tee time for the second round of the tournament, which was eventually won by Xander Schauffele.<\/p>\n<p>An attorney for Scheffler <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/scottie-schefflers-attorney-speaks-shock-arrest-exactly-instructed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">has vowed<\/a> to fight the charges against his client in court and said the golfer did what he was supposed to do before a miscommunication.<\/p>\n<p>Scheffler has a court appearance scheduled for June 3, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/court-date-scottie-scheffler-charge-133359158.html#:~:text=Court%20records%20now%20show%20the,traffic%2C%20according%20to%20court%20records.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yahoo Sports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>I heard a chilling comment the other day: \u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>That wasn\u2019t said by a conspiracy theorist or a doomsday prophet.
