That\u2019s in addition to the cascade of lawfare launched to thwart the campaign of their top challenger this fall.<\/p>\n<p>President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump agreed last week to engage in two debates this year, a departure from the traditional three held in the weeks before Election Day. The first will be held June 27 in a forum moderated by CNN. The second will be on Sept. 10 with moderators from ABC. Robert F. Kennedy (RFK) Jr. remains absent from the lineup, and not because of Trump.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with Scripps News last week, the former Republican president <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/elections\/4668137-trump-says-hed-have-no-problem-having-rfk-jr-on-debate-stage-if-he-meets-threshold\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said <\/a>he would have \u201cno problem\u201d with Kennedy joining the debate \u201cif he got whatever the threshold is.\u201d To <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsnationnow.com\/politics\/2024-election\/rfk-jr-believes-qualifies-debate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">qualify<\/a>, candidates must be on the ballot in enough states to capture 270 electoral votes and must hit 15 percent support in four <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-great-politically-for-republicans-to-talk-arizona-election-audit\/\" title=\"Trump: 'Great Politically' for Republicans to Talk Arizona Election Audit\">national polls<\/a> by June 20. <\/p>\n<p>Big media and the Democrats, however, are conspiring to keep Kennedy out. CNN is only counting surveys conducted after March 13. Of those, Kennedy has eclipsed the 15 percent benchmark in only <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/rfk-jr-debate-dilemma-politics-desk-rcna153358\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">two<\/a>. If the network included polls released since the start of the new year, however, Kennedy would meet the polling requirement, according to RealClearPolitics\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolling.com\/polls\/president\/general\/2024\/trump-vs-biden-vs-kennedy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">aggregate <\/a>of surveys.<\/p>\n<p>The third-party candidate must also prove he has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bidens-doj-sues-georgia-over-voting-law\/\" title=\"Biden\u2019s DOJ Sues Georgia Over Voting Law\">ballot access<\/a> in enough states to win the election. But NBC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/rfk-jr-debate-dilemma-politics-desk-rcna153358\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reports <\/a>\u201cthat may not even be possible, with some states not even processing submitted petitions until the end of the summer.\u201d Kennedy, however, is projecting confidence that he\u2019ll qualify for the June debate stage, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/video\/6353233361112\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">telling <\/a>Fox News on Sunday \u201cwe are in discussions with CNN\u201d to participate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have shown CNN that we meet all of those criteria,\u201d Kennedy said. Have they? Probably not, especially considering that some states will not even process ballot petitions until well after the first debate next month. <\/p>\n<p>But that doesn\u2019t mean Kennedy should be left out of presidential prime time. The criteria are bogus, to begin with. A well-financed candidate consistently polling with the support of more than 1 in 10 Americans for months on end is clearly a major contender worthy of a podium. In fact, an overwhelming majority of voters want to see Kennedy included.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/campaign\/4675158-71-percent-in-poll-want-rfk-jr-third-parties-in-debate\/#:~:text=The%20latest%20Harvard%20CAPS%2FHarris,example%20of%20one%20such%20candidate.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">According <\/a>to a May Harvard\/Harris poll out Monday, 71 percent of the more than 1,600 registered voters surveyed said the debates should include a third-party candidate such as Kennedy.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s only one campaign built on a strategy of systemically excluding opponents from the electoral process, and it\u2019s not Trump\u2019s. While failing to exclude Trump from the ballot as an \u201cinsurrectionist\u201d this spring, Democrat donors are \u201cfunding legal efforts to try to keep [Kennedy] off,\u201d NBC News reported in April. Democrats, according to NBC News, are \u201cwaging an open war on the likes of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., whom they view as mortal threats to President Joe Biden\u2019s re-election.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If Democrats want to claim the mantle of \u201cdemocracy,\u201d the party would welcome open competition in the debates and on the ballot.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      Tristan Justice is the western correspondent for The Federalist and the author of Social Justice Redux, a conservative newsletter on culture, health, and wellness.
