Just last month, the Biden Department of the Interior <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/04\/22\/to-celebrate-earth-day-the-white-house-locks-off-more-alaskan-earth-from-american-use\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">imposed<\/a> the \u201cmaximum protections\u201d for 13 million acres in the western Arctic and denied a road permit to mine an Alaskan copper deposit worth an estimated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/04\/19\/climate\/biden-alaska-drilling-mining-nrpa.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$7.5 billion<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), meanwhile, has pushed ahead with <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/21\/bidens-new-ev-mandate-is-a-bloodbath-for-consumers-carmakers-and-the-climate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">regulations<\/a> to mandate car manufacturers sell more electric vehicles despite mineral supply chains remaining <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/05\/even-this-left-wing-report-sounds-the-alarm-u-s-is-way-too-dependent-on-communist-china-for-minerals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dominated<\/a> by China.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/montanafreepress.org\/2024\/05\/17\/bureau-of-land-management-announces-end-to-new-coal-leasing-powder-river-basin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">According<\/a> to an email press release from the BLM reported by the Montana Free Press, the federal land agency made clear existing coal producers will continue to operate on the Powder River Basin for decades.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt said the Rosebud Mine, which supplies coal to the Colstrip power plant, could continue operating through 2035,\u201d reported the Montana outlet. \u201cThe Spring Creek Mine, located near Decker and operated by the Navajo Transitional Energy Company, could continue operating through 2060, per the agency.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-9f279eda05cafb3c61f4c25fb3f188b6 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-9f279eda05cafb3c61f4c25fb3f188b6\"><\/div>\n<p>The announcement to eliminate the potential for new leases, however, strikes a remarkable blow to Wyoming as the nation\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eia.gov\/tools\/faqs\/faq.php?id=69&#038;t=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">leading coal producer.<\/a> The state\u2019s three-member congressional delegation issued <a href=\"https:\/\/hageman.house.gov\/media\/press-releases\/wy-delegation-blasts-blm-wyoming-coal-ban\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">statements<\/a> last week condemning the administration\u2019s hostile move towards the state\u2019s energy industry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis decision to eviscerate Wyoming\u2019s coal production will impact every American\u2019s access to affordable and reliable energy, <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-dawns-early-light-color\">and only benefits the despots and dictators that this administration now relies on to meet our energy needs, while further weakening our economy and national security,\u201d said Rep. Harriet Hageman.<\/mark><\/p>\n<p>Sen. In February, Wyoming lawmakers in the capital of Cheyenne held a hearing with members of the CO<sub>2<\/sub> Coalition in lieu of a debate the governor agreed to participate in before backing out. The hearing featured a panel of climate experts who sought to discredit the governor\u2019s claims of an emergency need to aggressively eliminate carbon emissions from the atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is no secret that many legislators disagree with the governor and his stance and policies regarding CO<sub>2<\/sub>,\u201d Sen. Cheri Steinmetz said at the hearing. \u201cHowever, this meeting is strictly about CO<sub>2<\/sub> and related policy issues, and in no way intended to be personal in any way to the governor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr. William Happer, the founder of the CO<sub>2<\/sub> Coalition, also testified, describing efforts to remove atmospheric carbon as a \u201creligion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you look around, you need something bigger than yourself \u2026 to make your life worthwhile,\u201d Happer said. \u201cWhat\u2019s better than saving the planet?
