Almost cute in a way. Long after other candidates with more public support dropped out to make room for former President Donald Trump. But not Nikki, the former governor of South Carolina and Trump\u2019s ambassador to the United Nations.<\/p>\n<p>She lost races that Donald Trump wasn\u2019t even entered in \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/nikki-haley-fumes-nevada-primary-loss-says-trump-rigged-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">like the Nevada Republican primary<\/a>, to \u201cNone of These Candidates.\u201d She lost her home state, bigly. She lost pretty much everywhere in that manner except for the state of Vermont, which she won. Boy, hope the GOP can carry that momentum into the fall.<\/p>\n<p>Months after the Republican primary process, for all intents and purposes, ended, the last woman standing confirmed what may be the least important position she\u2019s taken this position: Yes, she\u2019ll be voting for Trump.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a voter, I put my priorities on a president who\u2019s going to have the backs of our allies and hold our enemies to account, who would secure the border, no more excuses,\u201d Haley said during an event at the conservative think tank the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/nikki-haley-picks-new-job-dropping-presidential-race\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hudson Institute<\/a> in Washington on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA president who would support capitalism and freedom, a president who understands we need less debt, not more debt. Trump has not been perfect on these policies. I\u2019ve made that clear many, many times.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut Biden has been a catastrophe. And it\u2019s not just <em>les <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/several-big-name-rinos-target-house-freedom-caucus-chairman-ousting-kevin-mccarthy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RINOs<\/a> fran\u00e7ais <\/em>who were still concerned about whom Haley was endorsing across the pond, either.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/ck77rvmp8xno\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BBC<\/a> pretending her candidacy still mattered: \u201cAnti-Trump Republican voters largely coalesced behind Ms. Haley\u2019s presidential bid earlier this year, and her dormant candidacy is still picking up support more than two months after she left the race,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bbc-forced-apologize-getting-report-israeli-operation-gaza-hospital-totally-backwards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Britain\u2019s state broadcaster<\/a> reported. \u201cShe won more than 20% of the vote in at least two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/utah-considers-ranked-choice-voting-in-primaries-despite-disasters-in-alaska-and-maine\/\" title=\"Utah Considers Ranked-Choice Voting In Primaries Despite Disasters In Alaska And Maine\">state primary elections<\/a> over the past fortnight.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Are you voting for Trump?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Yes, well, about that. Take <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2024-primary-elections\/north-carolina-president-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">North Carolina<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2024-primary-elections\/virginia-president-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Virginia<\/a>, two states with May primaries where Haley fared well, scoring 23 and 35 percent of the vote. As the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2024\/05\/22\/nikki-haley-vote-trump-2024-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daily Caller<\/a> noted, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/one-damning-stat-nh-exit-polls-proves-haleys-chances-even-worse-look\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">exit polling<\/a> from CNN showed that large swaths of the Haley vote in those <a href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/election\/2024\/primaries-and-caucuses\/exit-polls\/north-carolina\/republican-primary\/president\/0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">two<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/election\/2024\/primaries-and-caucuses\/exit-polls\/virginia\/republican-primary\/president\/0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">states<\/a> \u201clargely identified as \u2018liberal\/moderate\u2019 or as Democrats and independents. The survey found many of them were first-time voters in a Republican primary and registered in order to hurt Trump\u2019s chances of securing the nomination.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The other people who pretended this was hot news were professional former Republicans who would wring their hands on cable news.<\/p>\n<p>Take MSNBC commentator Nicolle Wallace, former Illinois Rep. Again, like Haley, these are people whose only real relevance \u2014 for lack of a constituency that will elect them or a politician that will employ them \u2014 is in public opposition to the presumptive GOP nominee.<\/p>\n<p>This is why Haley held off for as long as she did; even though she putatively dropped out of the race on March 6, she kept on pretending that Donald Trump and his contingent needed to earn her vote and court her voters. The difference is \u2014 as Sanford wisely pointed out \u2014 Haley has a chance to stay relevant if she can court both the Trump crowd and the anti-Trump crowd.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, the more likely outcome in 2028 and in the years intervening is what happened in 2024: In trying to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ron-desantis-calls-nikki-haley-failure-honor-pledge-knew\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">court both worlds<\/a>, she\u2019ll get neither.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>I heard a chilling comment the other day: \u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>That wasn\u2019t said by a conspiracy theorist or a doomsday prophet.
