The flag&#8217;s historical\u200d context and implications regarding bias were \u2064detailed,\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hunter-biden-attorney-takes-veiled-jab-at-his-former-trump-clients-raising-ethics-questions\/\" title=\"Hunter Biden's lawyer subtly criticizes his past Trump clients, sparking ethical concerns\">sparking ethical concerns<\/a>. \u2063The\u2064 article underscored the connection between symbols and judicial impartiality,\u200c prompting a critical review of\u200b the situation. The New\u2062 York Times focused on Justice Alito for displaying the &#8220;Appeal\u2063 to \u2062Heaven&#8221; flag\u200b linked to \u200ccontentious causes. The \u2063article delved into the flag&#8217;s \u2064history, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/report-bidens-hhs-loses-track-of-migrant-minors-allegedly-released-into-modern-day-slavery\/\" title=\"Report: Biden's HHS Loses Track of Migrant Minors Allegedly Released into Modern-Day Slavery\">highlighting concerns<\/a> about bias. It \u2062emphasized the link between symbols \u200cand judicial fairness, leading to a\u200d reevaluation of the matter.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">In yet another attempt by The New York Times to target conservative Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, the author of the decision overturning <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>, the Times <a href=\"\/\/479E6B4D-B41E-4E28-AC3A-D361DF5FB4C1\/v\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> that the \u201cAppeal to Heaven\u201d flag, which was originally used by a squadron of frigates commissioned by George Washington at the time of the Revolutionary War, was flown at Alito\u2019s beach house last summer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Times wrote that the flag, which features a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fla-police-boost-patrols-amid-spring-break-violence\/\" title=\"Fla. police boost patrols amid spring break violence\">pine tree<\/a>, was \u201ccarried by rioters at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021\u201d and is \u201cnow a symbol of support for former President Donald J. Trump, for a religious strand of the \u2018Stop the Steal\u2019 campaign and for a push to remake American government in Christian terms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In America, prior to the Revolutionary War, England would use white pine trees from New England for the masts of their ships. King George III and the British Parliament banned colonists from chopping down white pine trees 12\u201d in diameter or larger, which they could because the American settlers were still living on British property. In 1771, local law enforcement, at the behest of the British, arrested Ebenezer Mudgett, the owner of the Weare mill. That catalyzed the Pine Tree Riot, which is believed to inspire the later Boston Tea Party.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Times said \u201cseveral ethics experts\u201d called the news of the flag \u201ctroubling \u2026 because it ties Justice Alito more closely to symbols associated with the attempted election subversion on Jan. 6, and because it was displayed as the obstruction case was first coming for consideration by the court.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cJudges are not supposed to give any impression of bias, yet the flag could be seen as telegraphing the Alitos\u2019 views,\u201d the Times opined, then quoted a law professor from Indiana University calling it \u201cdeeply disturbing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Last week, the Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/05\/16\/us\/justice-alito-upside-down-flag.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> of an upside-down American flag flown outside Alito\u2019s Virginia home in 2021. Six days later, the Times published a series of letters condemning Alito in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/05\/22\/opinion\/alito-flag.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">column<\/a> titled, \u201cJustice Alito\u2019s Blame-the-Wife Defense.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cAlito said the saga in his neighborhood began in the days around Jan. 6, 2021, when a neighbor living down the street put up a sign that read \u2018F*** Trump\u2019 about 50 feet away from a children\u2019s bus stop,\u201d Fox News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/alito-wife-displayed-upside-down-flag-argument-insulting-neighbor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>. \u201cHe said his wife, Martha-Ann, then spoke with those neighbors about the sign and the conversation was not well received.\u00a0Alito told Fox News those neighbors then put up a sign directly attacking his wife and personally blaming her for the events that transpired on Jan. 6 at the nation\u2019s capital.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Alito added that a person who lived at the property with the Trump sign called his wife the \u201cC-word\u201d as the Alitos walked by, prompting his wife to fly the flag upside down for a short time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">In June 2023, the Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/06\/21\/business\/media\/alito-propublica-wall-street-journal.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">quoted<\/a> people slamming The Wall Street Journal for allowing Alito to write an opinion piece in which he explained his position after the leftist outlet ProPublica had contacted him with questions about a fishing trip from 2008. The Journal published its piece before ProPublica published their piece attacking Alito. Yet the Times admitted, \u201cStephen Engelberg, the editor in chief of ProPublica, said in a statement on Wednesday that ProPublica always invited people mentioned in articles to offer a response before publication.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The New York Times continues to focus on Justice Alito, known for overturning Roe v.
