Ted Cruz and Katie Britt unveiled their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cruz.senate.gov\/imo\/media\/doc\/2024.05.17%20--%20IVF%20Protection%20Act%20(LYN24343)1.pdf\">IVF Protection Act<\/a> to ensure \u201cIVF is fully protected at the federal level.\u201d The bill would make states \u201cineligible to receive Medicaid funding if they have enacted an outright ban on access to IVF.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cruz touts the bill as being pro-life, as IVF offers \u201cmiraculous hope to millions of Americans, and it has given families across the country the gift of children.\u201d Britt <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cruz.senate.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\/sens-cruz-britt-introduce-legislation-protecting-ivf\">insists<\/a> that \u201cIVF is pro-family\u201d and a \u201cpathway to parenthood.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-372418425\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-622f540c9c96d47709f549f8537d1773 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-622f540c9c96d47709f549f8537d1773\"><\/div>\n<p>In reality, IVF, and the Britt-Cruz attempt to protect it, victimizes children \u2014 both in terms of their right to life as well as their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/aw\/d\/B0BLQW8ZNK\/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?ie=UTF8&#038;qid=&#038;sr=\">fundamental right<\/a> to be known and loved by their mother and father. This bill is neither pro-life nor pro-family.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">IVF Violates Children\u2019s Right to Life<\/h2>\n<p>Despite their Wall Street Journal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/well-protect-both-life-and-ivf-81e2bf1f\">promise<\/a> that this bill will \u201cProtect Both Life and IVF,\u201d Cruz dodged <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/sentedcruz\/status\/1792559984749736035?s=46&#038;t=cKLtc4iwUxQ2wF82Hup9nw\">Annmarie Hordern<\/a>\u2019s \u201cis an IVF embryo considered life at conception?\u201d question. Instead, the senator assures us that \u201cthere is unanimity\u201d in support for IVF among all 100 senators.<\/p>\n<p>His deflection was necessary. Answering \u201cyes, life begins at conception\u201d would kill his bill faster than an embryo of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/health\/article-13402405\/IVF-vitro-fertilization-legal-clinics.html\">wrong sex<\/a> at a fertility facility.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s because only a fraction of the tiny lives created through IVF will be born alive. Most will be purposely destroyed. According to a recent Heritage Foundation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/life\/report\/why-the-ivf-industry-must-be-regulated\">report<\/a>, only 3 to 7 percent of embryonic children will make it through the IVF process alive. The vast majority of these tiny humans will be deemed nonviable or sub-optimal and destroyed, donated to research, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S0015028222000012\">perpetually frozen<\/a>, won\u2019t survive the freeze, the thaw, or the transfer, or be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/life\/report\/why-the-ivf-industry-must-be-regulated?_ga=2.207978962.1984428300.1716259350-683725561.1713215400&#038;_gl=1*1svtfyd*_ga*NjgzNzI1NTYxLjE3MTMyMTU0MDA.*_ga_W14BT6YQ87*MTcxNjMzNDg2Ni40LjEuMTcxNjMzNDk1Ny42MC4wLjA.\">rejected<\/a> for having the wrong sex, hair color, or eye color. As I often <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/advo_katy\/status\/1792640851388112934?s=46&#038;t=cKLtc4iwUxQ2wF82Hup9nw\">point out<\/a>, the <em>baby-making<\/em> fertility industry destroys <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepublicdiscourse.com\/2022\/07\/83359\/\">more little lives<\/a> annually than the <em>baby-taking abortion <\/em>industry.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-15f9e82f93ef4f41a959f0d05fc1e36a fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-15f9e82f93ef4f41a959f0d05fc1e36a\"><\/div>\n<p>Cruz explains that his IVF Protection Act advances a \u201cright to IVF \u2026 enabling people to become parents.\u201d Democrat Sen. Tammy Duckworth\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/wng.org\/opinions\/expendable-lives-1709172961\">Access to Family Building Act<\/a> set out to do exactly that earlier this year. Her bill \u201cestablish[ed] a statutory right for an individual to access, without prohibition or unreasonable limitation or interference, assisted reproductive technology services, such as IVF.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Both Cruz and Duckworth agree that \u201cIVF is a miracle.\u201d One wonders why Cruz didn\u2019t sign on to the Democrat\u2019s parallel legislation, especially given he and Britt hope their bill will receive \u201cbipartisan support.\u201d It could be that Duckworth\u2019s bill made <a href=\"https:\/\/www.duckworth.senate.gov\/news\/press-releases\/new-duckworth-murray-wild-bill-would-protect-right-to-access-ivf-other-assisted-reproductive-technology-for-every-american\">explicit<\/a> what Cruz seeks to obscure \u2014 that abortion and IVF are <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/advo_katy\/status\/1792633925078307009?s=46&#038;t=cKLtc4iwUxQ2wF82Hup9nw\">two sides<\/a> of the same \u201creproductive rights\u201d coin. Both of which treat children as objects of rights, not subjects of rights. Both of which destroy hundreds of thousands of tiny humans every year.<\/p>\n<p>Cruz and Britt are giving a pass to an industry that would rather <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/amp\/rcna139846\">forgo business<\/a> in states that insist unborn children have a right to life than modify their business model to protect those children.<\/p>\n<p>For those of us who actually believe that life begins at conception, we must equally challenge the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/no-manufacturing-children-in-a-petri-dish-isnt-a-reproductive-right\/\" title=\"No, Manufacturing Children In A Petri Dish Isn\u2019t A Reproductive Right\">baby-taking industry<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/as-reproductive-technology-advances-remember-just-because-we-can-doesnt-mean-we-should\/\" title=\"As Reproductive Technology Advances, Remember: Just Because We Can Doesn\u2019t Mean We Should\">baby-making industry<\/a>. If there\u2019s a way to \u201cProtect Both Life and IVF\u201d we have yet to find it.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-069436fb5c492d07521a384e0c816d92 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-069436fb5c492d07521a384e0c816d92\"><\/div>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">IVF Violates Children\u2019s Right to Their Mother and Father<\/h2>\n<p>In their <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/sentedcruz\/status\/1792559984749736035?s=46&#038;t=cKLtc4iwUxQ2wF82Hup9nw\">Bloomberg<\/a> interview, Britt assures us that her bill is pro-family. But she also believes that \u201cevery parent across the country who wants to bring life into this world and may be struggling with infertility <em>or others<\/em>\u201d (emphasis added) should have \u201cthe certainty\u201d of IVF access.<\/p>\n<p>Here, Britt and Cruz do the heavy lifting for Democrats seeking to make mothers and fathers optional in the family. The left has made multiple attempts to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=jtzJhhWj2PY\">redefine infertility<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2872159\/government-shouldnt-subsidize-intentional-motherlessness-and-fatherlessness\/\">mandate IVF access<\/a> for single and same-sex couples, and insist that subsidized access to #BigFertility is <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Advo_Katy\/status\/1788701783474221133\">the next front<\/a> in LGBT equality. A \u201cright to parenthood\u201d via a \u201cright to IVF\u201d is a critical step in the overhaul of the nuclear family, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/opinion\/beltway-confidential\/2780979\/eight-years-of-obergefell-proves-children-are-the-victims-of-marriage-equality\/\">only family form<\/a> that unites a child\u2019s mother and father for life.<\/p>\n<p>You see, when you\u2019re creating a baby in glass \u2014 in vitro \u2014 there\u2019s no need to only use the gametes of the child\u2019s own mother and father. It\u2019s just as easy to swap in a third party\u2019s egg or sperm, and thereby intentionally separate a child from one or both genetic parents at the moment of conception \u2014 parents who are <a href=\"https:\/\/thembeforeus.com\/biology-matters\/\">statistically<\/a> the safest, most connected to, most protective of, and most invested in the child.<\/p>\n<p>While we don\u2019t know how many children are made motherless and fatherless through IVF (because #BigFertility operates virtually regulation-free), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC6765402\/#:~:text=For%20more%20than%20a%20quarter,of%20Technology%20Assessment%20(9).\">estimates<\/a> range between 30,000 and 60,000 per year. We do know that there are entire <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/advo_katy\/status\/1791400293894148165?s=46&#038;t=cKLtc4iwUxQ2wF82Hup9nw\">international organizations<\/a> that rely on IVF to create intentionally motherless children. Those motherless and fatherless children will disproportionately struggle with <a href=\"https:\/\/thembeforeus.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/My-Daddys-Name-is-Donor-Full-Study.pdf\">identity issues<\/a>. Turns out, it\u2019s very hard to answer the question \u201cWho am I?\u201d when you cannot answer the question, \u201cWhose am I?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If Cruz and Britt define \u201cfamily\u201d like Democrats do \u2014 as whatever arrangements reflect the romantic or sexual desires of adults \u2014 then sure, IVF is \u201cpro-family.\u201d But if you actually believe that children need, deserve, and have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Them-Before-Us-Childrens-Movement\/dp\/B0BLQW8ZNK\/\">a right<\/a> to their mother and father, then IVF is often anti-family. It is a precision tool wielded by a money-hungry industry to destroy children\u2019s natural familial bonds.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">You Cannot Be Pro-life and Protect IVF<\/h2>\n<p>Cruz and Britt got <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailysignal.com\/2024\/05\/21\/what-ted-cruz-katie-britt-get-wrong-about-ivf\/\">a lot wrong<\/a> with their IVF Protection Act, chief among those wrongs are children \u2014 what they deserve, when they come to be, and to whom they belong. IVF is a threat to kids \u2014 to their dignity and worth as well as to their parental bonds.<\/p>\n<p>Any politician advancing legislation to \u201cprotect IVF\u201d absent explicit language identifying that children have a right to life from the moment of conception and prohibiting the use of third-party sperm or egg or <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/12\/04\/the-conservative-pro-life-case-against-surrogacy\/\">womb<\/a> are neither pro-life nor pro-family nor pro-child. They are pro-politics. And they forfeit any credibility with regard to future policies that advance protection for the unborn or the importance of mothers and fathers.<\/p>\n<p>You can be pro-life and pro-family, or you can be pro-IVF.
