The Minnesota team supported the union&#8217;s removal with a 26-7 \u200bvote on May 1, while the Tennessee staff voted 15-8 on May 8. The move followed \u200bpetitions to the \u200bNational Labor Relations Board \u200dby \u2064two employees. Workers at Penske \u200dTruck Rental \u200din Minneapolis, \u2062Minnesota, and Nashville, Tennessee, took a significant step by voting to remove the International Association of\u2064 Machinists union. \u200dIn Minnesota, the team\u200c voted 26-7 on May \u20621 in favor of \u2064the union&#8217;s removal, while in Tennessee, the \u2063staff voted 15-8 on May 8. <span>   May 22, 2024 at 5:31pm <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>Workers at Penske Truck Rental in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Nashville, Tennessee, voted earlier this month to oust the International Association of Machinists union from power over their employees.<\/p>\n<p>Penske Truck Rental staff members in Minnesota voted 26-7 on May 1 in favor of the union\u2019s removal, while their counterparts in Tennessee voted 15-8 for the same on May 8, according to a report from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecentersquare.com\/tennessee\/article_d6809c98-1441-11ef-96d3-e3465107c6e9.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Center Square<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The vote comes weeks after Penske Truck Rental employees Kyle Fulkerson of Minneapolis and David Saylor of Nashville filed petitions to the National Labor Relations Board for the union\u2019s removal.<\/p>\n<p>The National Labor Relations Board enforces federal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/small-businesses-expected-struggle-labor-costs-state-laws-go-effect\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">labor law<\/a>, particularly in matters regarding unions and worker representation.<\/p>\n<p>The petitions had the requisite 30 percent support to bring about a vote on removing the union.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis lopsided vote is a testament to the fact that after having seen the IAM up close and personal in our workplace, my colleagues and I are confident that we are better off without union officials so-called \u2018representation,\u2019\u201d Fulkerson said in a statement shared with The Center Square.<\/p>\n<p>The National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation backed the move with pro-bono legal aid, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nrtw.org\/news\/penske-mn-tn-04172024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news release<\/a> from the organization.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTransportation and trucking employees across the country are realizing that monopoly union control is frequently harmful,\u201d National Right to Work Foundation President Mark Mix said in the release. \u201cWhile workers\u2019 right to vote out union bosses they oppose is vital in every state, it\u2019s especially important in forced-dues states like Minnesota, where union bosses can force workers to pay for \u2018representation\u2019 they don\u2019t agree with.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s outrageous this current Administration is intent on paring back this right just to give union officials more tools to expand their coffers and their coercive influence over workers,\u201d Mix continued.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Do you <a policies.\">support labor unions<\/a>?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Penske Truck Rental employees in Minnesota were forced to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/government-unions-have-been-stealing-money-for-years-now-scotus-has-the-chance-to-intervene\/\" title=\"Government Unions Have Been Stealing Money For Years \u2014 Now, SCOTUS Has The Chance To Intervene\">pay union dues<\/a> before the vote in order to keep their jobs.<\/p>\n<p>This is because Minnesota does not have right-to-work protections for employees in the private sector.<\/p>\n<p>Tennessee, which has such protections, prohibits the enforcement of any agreement where workers are strong-armed by the union or their employers into union membership and paying union dues.<\/p>\n<p>Union membership has been on a steady decline across the nation for decades, according to a January report from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gallup.com\/workplace\/608672\/unions-experiencing-renaissance-not-quite.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gallup<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The decline, however, has been propelled by an expansion of non-union jobs with lower worker demand for union membership instead of any change to the absolute number of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/insulting-labor-unions-that-endorsed-biden-now-lashing-out-at-him\/\" title=\"\u201cInsulting\u201d- Labor Unions That Endorsed Biden Now Lashing Out At Him\">union members<\/a>, which, in fact, has risen.<\/p>\n<p>Using data from the National Labor Relations Board, the National Right to Work Foundation noted that from 2020 onward, petitions to decertify unions have spiked by more than 40 percent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo resist this trend, the Biden NLRB is attempting to make it substantially more difficult for workers to decertify unions, and could soon issue a final rule invalidating the Election Protection Rule,\u201d the organization said. \u201cThe Election Protection Rule is a policy that contains multiple important
