Whistleblower Gary Shapley, a senior IRS investigator, revealed that the CIA&#8217;s classified briefing resulted\u200b in the Department&#8217;s decision. Morris, a Hollywood lawyer,\u200d played \u2064a crucial\u2062 financial role for Biden, \u200bfacing tax-related\u200d charges in 2020 and receiving support \u2063from Morris.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/cia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>CIA<\/a> gave a briefing to the Department of Justice in the summer of 2021 that prompted the department to shut down any pursuit of Hunter Biden\u2019s lawyer and friend Kevin Morris, according to an <a href=\"https:\/\/gop-waysandmeans.house.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Shapley-Affidavit.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>affidavit<\/a> published by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/congress\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Congress\">Congress<\/a> on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Whistleblower Gary Shapley, a senior IRS investigator, wrote in the affidavit that while he was working on the DOJ\u2019s broader inquiry into Biden, he was unexpectedly told by a prosecutor that he could not use Morris as a witness.<\/p>\n<p>Former Assistant U.S. Attorney Lesley Wolf, a Delaware-based prosecutor who was heavily involved in the Biden investigation, gave the instruction to Shapley after she had been \u201csummoned\u201d to the CIA headquarters in Virginia to receive the briefing, Shapley said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAUSA Wolf stated that they were provided a classified briefing in relation to Mr. Morris and as a result we could no longer pursue him as a witness,\u201d Shapley wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Shapley said he repeatedly requested more information from Wolf but that he was stonewalled.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is possible that this was simply another roadblock placed in front of investigators to continue to deny investigators access to all relevant information,\u201d Shapley wrote.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that to this day, he is unaware of how the CIA knew to talk to Wolf about Morris and what was discussed at the briefing that led Wolf to issue her directive.<\/p>\n<p>Morris, a Hollywood entertainment lawyer, became a financial savior to Biden when the first son was drowning in years\u2019 worth of unpaid tax bills in 2020, according to an indictment against Biden and testimony Morris gave to Congress in January.<\/p>\n<figure><figcaption>Hunter Biden, center, President Joe Biden\u2019s son, accompanied by his attorney Abbe Lowell, right, and Kevin Morris, left, leave a House Oversight Committee hearing as Republicans are taking the first step toward holding him in contempt of Congress, Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024, on Capitol Hill in Washington. (AP Photo\/Jose Luis Magana)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Biden was charged last year by the DOJ with several <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/irs-whistleblower-docs-show-doj-obstructed-hunter-biden-probe-to-protect-president\/\" title=\"IRS Whistleblower Docs Reveal DOJ Obstructed Hunter Biden Probe for President's Protection\">tax felonies<\/a> and misdemeanors, and the indictment stated that a \u201cpersonal friend\u201d \u2014 details in the indictment corroborate that the friend is Morris \u2014 paid off $1.2 million in bills for Biden in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>In a letter to Congress, Morris also said he set up several loans for Biden beginning in October 2021. The loans totaled $6.5 million and stipulated that Biden must begin paying them off by October 2025, according to the letter.<\/p>\n<p>An attorney for Morris did not respond to a request for comment. The CIA did not respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Shapley\u2019s affidavit revealing the CIA\u2019s interest in Morris came as part of a document dump by the House Ways and Means Committee on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Committee Chairman Jason Smith (R-MO) said in a statement that the documents showed Biden lied under oath when he appeared before Congress for a deposition in February. Smith called for the DOJ to add perjury to its list of charges to consider as it investigates and prosecutes Biden for tax charges and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/feds-arrest-pennsylvania-woman-accused-of-stealing-pelosis-laptop\/\" title=\"Feds Arrest Pennsylvania Woman Accused of Stealing Pelosi\u2019s Laptop\">charges related<\/a> to a 2018 gun purchase.<\/p>\n<p>Biden, for example, said in the deposition that he was \u201chigh or drunk\u201d when he sent a WhatsApp message to a Chinese energy executive pressuring the executive to pay him while leveraging his father, President Joe Biden. Hunter Biden testified that he actually sent the now-viral message to the \u201cwrong Zhao\u201d and that Zhao had no idea what the first son was talking about.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But the committee\u2019s documents <a href=\"https:\/\/waysandmeans.house.gov\/ways-and-means-committee-releases-evidence-showing-hunter-biden-lied-under-oath-during-recent-congressional-testimony\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">show<\/a> the WhatsApp number clearly belonged to the Zhao associated with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/donald-trump-the-bidens-got-rich-while-americans-got-robbed\/\" title=\"Donald Trump: 'The Bidens Got Rich While Americans Got Robbed'\">energy company<\/a> and that Hunter Biden\u2019s testimony about the threatening message was misleading.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Zhao that this is sent to is not the Zhao connected to [Chinese energy company] CEFC,\u201d Hunter Biden had said during the deposition.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In summer 2021, the CIA briefing to the Department of Justice halted the investigation into Hunter Biden\u2019s lawyer, Kevin Morris.
