Tom Suozzi Will Run for New York Governor, Not Reelection\">spending large sums<\/a> on advertisements to boost Biden ahead of his rematch against former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Donald Trump<\/a>. Bright Future Fund was quietly incorporated in December of last year by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elias.law\/team\/katherine-labeau\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>partner<\/a> Katherine LaBeau at Elias Law Firm under a section of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/irs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>IRS<\/a> code, 501(c)(4), that allows it to engage in political advocacy while not paying taxes and shielding its donors from the IRS, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/washington-dc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Washington, D.C.\">Washington, D.C.<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-asia-czars-holdings-may-present-conflict-of-interest\/\" title=\"Biden Asia Czar\u2019s Holdings May Present Conflict of Interest\">corporate records show<\/a><\/p>\n<p>That Future Forward is being backed by a little-known entity such as Bright Future Fund is not an anomaly as far as political spending, though it underscores how anonymous donors are deeply fueling Biden\u2019s reelection bid <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2452244\/biden-blessed-dark-money-group-wired-15-million-from-soros-while-president-slammed-secret-donor-world\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>despite the president often criticizing<\/a> so<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-justice-department-nominee-does-about-face-on-police-protections-drug-legalization\/\" title=\"Biden Justice Department Nominee Does About Face on Police Protections, Drug Legalization\">-called dark money<\/a>. Biden has said dark money \u201cerodes public trust.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Future Forward receives most of its cash from the PAC\u2019s affiliated 501(c)(4) nonprofit group, which is also under no obligation to report its donors to the IRS. The pro-Biden group has notably faced recent <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/elections\/bidens-favorite-super-pac-used-illegal-scheme-to-conceal-its-donors-experts-say\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>scrutiny<\/a> from some legal experts over parts of its financial disclosures that appeared to be filed incorrectly. <\/p>\n<figure><figcaption>President Joe Biden adjusts his sunglasses as he arrives on Air Force One at Boston-Logan International Airport, Tuesday, May 21, 2024, in East Boston, Massachusetts. (AP Photo\/Alex Brandon)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>It also appears, however, that Bright Future Fund is connected to a separate financial disclosure mishap. <\/p>\n<p>According to a Federal Election Commission filing, a contributor listed under Bright Future Fund in February directed $2.6 million to Forward Majority Action, a PAC supporting Democratic candidates. However, the FEC filing listed Bright Future Fund as having an address corresponding to a Kansas City, Missouri-based 501(c)(3) <a href=\"https:\/\/projects.propublica.org\/nonprofits\/organizations\/461012192\/202321249349301647\/full\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>charity<\/a> called Bright Futures Fund that is affiliated with the Catholic Diocese, a <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> review of state records found. <\/p>\n<p>Charities registered under that section of the IRS code, 501(c)(3), are required to be nonpartisan and cannot donate to political campaigns. Barb Deane, the Kansas City-based charity\u2019s director of development, was unaware of the FEC filing discrepancy upon being reached by the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe do not contribute to political organizations of any kind,\u201d Deane said. <\/p>\n<p>In a statement to the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>, FEC spokeswoman Judith Ingram said committees, not the FEC, are responsible for obtaining and reporting the correct information on filings. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey can always file an amended report to correct erroneous information,\u201d Ingram said. <\/p>\n<p>The <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> reached out for comment to Elias Law Firm and Forward Majority Action.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond what is listed in corporate records filed in Washington, D.C., which says LaBeau incorporated Bright Future Fund, it is unclear who else is leading or funding the organization. No financial disclosures are available for Bright Future Fund, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtondcregisteredagent.com\/contact-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>listed<\/a> its address at an office in the district that helps people form corporations. <\/p>\n<p>A separate super PAC called Bright Future Fund is listed in FEC records with a mailing address in Maryland, but this organization confirmed to the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> it is not the group that funded Future Forward. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have no relationship and have made no contributions to Future Forward or really any other entity or organization,\u201d Daniel Rubio, the treasurer for the Maryland-based group, told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>. <\/p>\n<p>Future Forward did not return a request for comment. <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A recently established advocacy group, tied to Democratic superlawyer Marc Elias, channeled over $2 million to the key super PAC backing President Joe Biden&#8217;s 2024 reelection.
