DeSantis says he would sign bill that bans transgender procedures for children\">bans transgender procedures<\/a> and treatments for minors.<\/p>\n<p>Local media reported that South Carolina became the 25th state to pass laws cracking down on the highly controversial treatments.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI signed the Help Not Harm bill into law, which protects our state\u2019s children from irreversible gender transition procedures and bans public funds from being used for them,\u201d McMaster said in a statement posted to X. \u201cI look forward to joining legislators and supporters at a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hobbs-mum-on-early-budget-talks-with-republican-leaders\/\" title=\"Hobbs stays silent on initial budget discussions with GOP leaders\">ceremonial bill signing<\/a> in the Upstate next week.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Associated Press <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/transgender-care-minors-gender-affirming-south-carolina-49edeee22eab31574316a13ab874b623\">reported<\/a> that the law bans medical professionals from \u201cperforming gender-transition surgeries, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/limited-government-isnt-everything\/\" title=\"Limited Government Isn\u2019t Everything.\">prescribing puberty blockers<\/a> and overseeing hormone treatments for patients under 18.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Doctors are able to prescribe some of the treatments for minors in legitimate circumstances that the treatments were designed for, an example of which includes giving a puberty blocker to a child who has a medical condition that causes them to start puberty as young as age 4, the report said.<\/p>\n<p>It also requires schools to notify parents if their child wants to use a different name or pronouns.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">I signed the Help Not Harm bill into law, which protects our state\u2019s children from irreversible gender transition procedures and bans public funds from being used for them.
