The technology, known as passive Intelligent Speed Assistance, will audibly and visually warn drivers \u2063if they \u2064surpass speed limits by \u2063over 10 mph. The California Senate\u2063 has passed\u2063 a bill requiring new cars in \u200cthe state to include systems that notify drivers when they go over the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/family-disgusted-with-judges-treatment-of-man-who-allegedly-killed-their-kid-in-dui-crash\/\" title=\"Family outraged by judge's handling of DUI crash that claimed their child's life.\">speed\u200b limit<\/a>.\u200d This technology, called passive Intelligent Speed Assistance, will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/u-s-seeks-information-from-tesla-on-in-car-camera-in-autopilot-probe\/\" title=\"U.S. seeks information from Tesla on in-car camera in Autopilot probe\">provide audible<\/a> and visual alerts to \u2063drivers exceeding the speed limit by more \u2064than 10 mph.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_78\">\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/california\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>California<\/a> senate passed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/legislation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>legislation<\/a> that would require all new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/cars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>cars<\/a> sold or manufactured in the Golden State to beep at drivers and visually alert them when they exceed the speed limit.<\/p>\n<p>Known as passive Intelligent Speed Assistance, the technology will alert drivers if they exceed the speed limit by greater than 10 miles per hour. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cResearch has shown that this does have an impact in getting people to slow down, particularly since some people don\u2019t realize how fast that their car is going,\u201d said state Sen. Scott Wiener, a Democrat from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/San-Francisco\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>San Francisco<\/a> and the bill\u2019s author. <\/p>\n<p>In 2021, the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration estimated that 10% of all car crashes were due to speeding. In California, 35% of traffic fatalities were speeding-related, the second highest in the country. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese deaths are preventable, and they\u2019re occurring because of policy choices to tolerate dangerous roads,\u201d Wiener said in a statement. \u201cThe evidence is clear: Rising levels of dangerous speeding are placing all Californians in danger, and by taking prudent steps to improve safety, we can save lives.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The change would be a first for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/United-States\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>United States<\/a>, but European countries have been using this technology for years.
