The theft took place on a Tuesday, and she suspects her car keys were taken from her purse during class.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_78\">\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/teachers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>teacher<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/washington-dc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Washington, D.C.<\/a>, was one of the most recent victims of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/car\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>car<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/dc-thefts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>theft<\/a> in the nation\u2019s capitol as her car was stolen from her school\u2019s parking lot. <\/p>\n<p>Margaret McLawhorn, who teaches at H.D. Woodson High School in Northeast D.C., had her white Porsche Macan stolen out of the school\u2019s parking lot Tuesday. She believes her car keys were taken from her purse during class.<\/p>\n<p>A witness said she was sitting in her car in the lot when she saw a male dodge between cars before getting into McLawhorn\u2019s Porsche and <a href=\"https:\/\/wjla.com\/news\/local\/northeast-dc-porsche-taken-woodson-high-school-teacher-washington-parking-lot-keys-purse-crime-investigation-macan-metropolitan-police-hd-student-adult-juvenile-male-female-suspect-luxury\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>driving away<\/a>.\u00a0It\u2019s not known whether or not it was a student who stole the car.<\/p>\n<p>McLawhorn <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox5dc.com\/news\/dc-teachers-porsche-stolen-from-high-school-parking-lot\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>claimed<\/a> her car keys were most likely taken when she put her purse down and moved to the back of the classroom to teach the rest of the day.<\/p>\n<p>The keys were stolen, along with the car, between 11:55 a.m. and 12:57 p.m., according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pga-tour-golfer-arrested-in-child-sex-predator-sting\/\" title=\"PGA Tour Golfer Arrested In Child Sex Predator Sting\">police records<\/a>. In 2023, 6,829 motor vehicles were stolen, which was an 82% increase from 2022. The trend may be on a downturn, however, as there has been a 31% <a href=\"https:\/\/mpdc.dc.gov\/page\/district-crime-data-glance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>decrease<\/a> in car thefts so far in 2024.   <\/p>\n<p>H.D.
