Katie Porter (D-CA), requires presidents and vice presidents to make a variety of disclosures for themselves and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-michigan-house-member-files-to-impeach-governor-gretchen-whitmer\/\" title=\"BREAKING: Michigan House Member Files to Impeach Governor Gretchen Whitmer\">family members<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Provisions in the bill demand reports on conflicts of interest, payments from foreign sources, gifts valued at more than $10,000, loans or loan repayments over $10,000, and tax returns \u2014 all for two years before they took office, during their time in office, and two years after leaving office. The bill also requires presidents and vice presidents to disclose when family members accompany them on foreign travel and specify any commercial purposes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInfluence peddling is a cottage industry in Washington and we\u2019ve identified deficiencies in current law that have led to a culture of corruption,\u201d Comer <a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/release\/comer-porter-introduce-landmark-presidential-ethics-reform-act\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> in a statement, adding that the bill \u201cdelivers the transparency and accountability the American people deserve to ensure our public offices are not for sale.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The bill comes after Comer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/comer-announces-new-subpoena-targeting-bank-records-linked-to-biden-family-members\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> congressional investigators found that Biden family members set up more than 20 \u201cshell companies\u201d and made over $24 million from China, Russia, and other foreign countries, raising concerns about the potential for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-gop-committee-chairman-to-treasury-hand-over-info-on-biden-family-business-deals\/\" title=\"New GOP Committee Chairman To Treasury: Hand Over Info On Biden Family Business Deals\">influence peddling schemes<\/a> that are at the center of the House impeachment investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Biden and his defenders have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-declines-invite-to-testify-for-impeachment-inquiry\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">insisted<\/a> that House Republicans have not turned up any evidence of wrongdoing by the president.
