Wade<\/em> with the 2022 Supreme Court decision in <em>Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization<\/em>, Democrats have seized on reproductive rights as a topic that motivates voters, with an Alabama Supreme Court <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/healthcare\/2896849\/alabama-ivf-protection-bill-passes-both-chambers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"decision\">decision<\/a> that declared embryos as children thrusting IVF into the spotlight earlier this year. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is looking to focus on these topics specifically, with votes on legislation that would force Senate Republicans to make a difficult decision regarding popular treatments, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2024\/05\/22\/senate-democrats-plot-reproductive-rights-blitz?utm_source=newsletter&#038;utm_medium=email&#038;utm_campaign=newsletter_axiosam&#038;stream=top\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>according<\/a> to <em>Axios<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The details are being worked out by a group of Senate Democrats, according to the outlet, and Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) said they are discussing actions for how to bring the matters to the Senate floor. <\/p>\n<p>About 70% <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/short-reads\/2024\/05\/13\/americans-overwhelmingly-say-access-to-ivf-is-a-good-thing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>say<\/a> access to IVF is a good thing. Birth control is even more popular, with 91% <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/changing-america\/respect\/accessibility\/3486584-most-americans-support-free-widely-available-birth-control-if-abortion-is-banned-poll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>saying<\/a> it should be free and widely available. The Alabama Supreme Court decision put Republicans, incumbents and challengers, in a tough spot, with many forced to come out with statements disagreeing with the right-leaning court\u2019s ruling.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA), a vulnerable senator, said he thinks the matters, especially abortion, will play into the key Senate races.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s going to be a significant issue in all these races, including mine,\u201d Casey said. \u201cIt\u2019s a major dividing line between the two parties.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Democrats are looking to repeat their 2022 success in making abortion a key topic, which allowed them to curb the expected \u201cred wave\u201d in the midterm elections and hold on to the Senate while also limiting GOP pickups in the House.<\/p>\n<p>Sens.
