Oklahoma\u2063 Governor Kevin Stitt signed a bill enabling the \u2064arrest of suspected illegal immigrants, leading to \u200bconstitutional conflict. Similar\u2064 threats were issued to Iowa for its immigration \u200dlaw, reflecting a broader legal struggle between states and the federal \u200cgovernment.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>The Biden administration\u2019s Department of Justice (DOJ) is threatening to sue the state of Oklahoma over a new law that would criminalize illegal immigration at the state level.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/kfor.com\/news\/local\/christmas-in-may-doj-threatens-to-sue-ok-over-new-immigration-law\/\">threat<\/a> from the DOJ comes after Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt signed a bill into law that allows law enforcement agents to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/abbotts-texas-illegal-immigration-crackdown-challenged-by-aclu-as-biden-doj-mulls-action\/\" title=\"ACLU challenges Abbott's Texas immigration crackdown as Biden DOJ considers action\">arrest suspected illegal immigrants<\/a> who may be guilty of committing \u201cimpermissible occupation\u201d in Oklahoma.<\/p>\n<p>First and second time convictions carry different penalties, though both would require the illegal immigrant to leave the state of Oklahoma within 72 hours of being released from custody. The Biden DOJ now claims that the law is unconstitutional.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe United States intends to file suit to enjoin the enforcement of HB 4156 unless Oklahoma agrees to refrain from enforcing the law,\u201d a letter from DOJ Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney Brian Boynton to the Governor of Oklahoma reads. \u201cThe United States is committed to the processing of noncitizens consistent with the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). HB 4156 is contrary to that goal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond fired back in a statement of his own, asserting that \u201cOklahoma has a sovereign right to defend its people, and we have a legal obligation to defend our people, to protect our citizens,\u201d going on to argue that \u201cthe Biden administration has abdicated control of the border.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Oklahoma is just one of the several states that has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/north-carolina-senate-sends-bill-banning-abortions-based-on-down-syndrome-sex-race-to-governors-desk\/\" title=\"North Carolina Senate Sends Bill Banning Abortions Based On Down Syndrome, Sex, Race, To Governor\u2019s Desk\">recently passed legislation intended<\/a> to respond to the unprecedented crisis on the southern border that the Biden administration has presided over.<\/p>\n<p>The DOJ recently sent a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/department-of-justice-warns-it-will-sue-iowa-over-law-cracking-down-on-illegal-immigration\">similar threat<\/a> to Iowa, which passed a law designating illegal reentry into the state as an aggravated misdemeanor, thereby allowing the state to arrest illegal immigrants. \u201cThose who come into our country illegally have broken the law, yet Biden refuses to deport them,\u201d Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds said while defending the legislation.<\/p>\n<p>Texas has also been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/federal-appeals-court-places-texas-immigration-law-on-hold-again-after-scotus-allowed-it-to-take-effect\">locked in legal battles<\/a> with the federal government over legislation that allows state officials to detain and charge illegal immigrants. The Lone Star state also met the federal government\u2019s ire when state authorities took control of Shelby Park in Eagle Pass, Texas on the banks of the Rio Grande, asserting that the federal government was allowing illegal immigrants to enter the country by way of the park.<\/p>\n<p>Georgia has also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/georgia-governor-brian-kemp-signs-bill-mandating-jailers-check-immigration-status-of-inmates\">passed legislation<\/a> requiring jails to check the citizenship status of inmates, a reform largely inspired by the brutal killing of 22-year old Laken Riley by an illegal immigrant from Venezuela.<\/p>\n<p>While the Biden administration continues to threaten lawsuits against states that attempt to curtail illegal immigration, the Democrat president has presided over an unprecedented illegal immigration crisis, with authorities recording over 9.5 million <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbp.gov\/newsroom\/stats\/nationwide-encounters\">nationwide encounters<\/a> and 1.7 million <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/biden-admin-may-have-lost-track-millions-of-migrants-crossing-southern-border-congressional-report\">estimated illegal immigrant gotaways<\/a> since Joe Biden took office. There were only 445,000 total reported gotaways for 2018, 2019, and 2020 under the Trump administration.<\/p>\n<p>The Democratic incumbent is now under water with voters on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/georgia-governor-brian-kemp-signs-bill-mandating-jailers-check-immigration-status-of-inmates\/\" title=\"Georgia Governor Brian Kemp has approved a bill requiring jailers to verify inmates' immigration status\">critical election year issue<\/a>, with one poll finding that just <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/poll-just-20-percent-of-voters-say-united-states-has-control-over-its-borders\">20 percent<\/a> of voters across the country believe that the United States has control over its borders, while a separate survey revealed that only <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/voters-say-immigration-is-top-issue-facing-country-biden-faces-widespread-disapproval-on-immigration\">36 percent<\/a> of voters approve of Biden\u2019s handling of the issue.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Biden administration&#8217;s DOJ considers suing Oklahoma over a new state law that criminalizes illegal immigration.
