Puharic claimed the defendant re-signed a lease with her but then did something \u201creally shady\u201d which forced them to break the lease and pay the price for it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI was seeing this man named Tommy and we had met on a Saturday night, and we hit it off,\u201d Puharic began. \u201cAnd then the next day me, Mollie, and Tommy and a few other friends were all out doing Sunday Funday, as one does in Nashville.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cSunday Funday,\u201d Judge Walsh repeated. \u201cWhat is that?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWhere you go to a bar with a group of friends, and you <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/your-risk-of-kidney-stones-increases-if-you-have-this-blood-type\/\" title=\"Your Risk of Kidney Stones Increases if You Have This Blood Type\">drink lots<\/a> of beer or other liquids of your choice,\u201d Puharic replied. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cAnd why can\u2019t you just say you\u2019re going to the bar?\u201d the judge wondered.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cBecause it\u2019s Sunday Funday. It\u2019s on a Sunday. It\u2019s a thing. Have you never done it?\u201d the plaintiff asked.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Judge Walsh said it sounded \u201clike something that a child might say to describe going to Chucky Cheese.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Puharic went on to describe how while she was at the bar with her friends, Mollie told Tommy she had a boyfriend, which she insisted wasn\u2019t true. The plaintiff said she had broken up with her boyfriend, Jacob, four months prior and that even though they were trying to \u201cwork things out,\u201d she didn\u2019t consider her actions to be a form of cheating.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">She went on to describe getting into a screaming fight with Jones and Tommy outside the bar. As for her relationship with the defendant now, Puharic said, \u201cI just don\u2019t really trust her. And we\u2019ve been trying to maintain a good friendship, and I just feel like, at the end of the day, until she gives me this money, I can\u2019t fully be best friends with her again.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Next, Jones told her side of the story. She said she was \u201cnot guilty\u201d of betraying and sabotaging her friend and former roommate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">She added that they were all \u201chaving a good time\u201d when she decided to tell Tommy, \u201cI don\u2019t know why you\u2019re wasting your time. She\u2019s going to get back with her ex.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Judge Walsh asked if Jones had planned on saying that and she said no, it was a \u201cspur of the moment\u201d decision.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Jones said she decided to give up the apartment, which she was subletting from one of Puharic\u2019s former roommates because Puharic had been there longer and it felt more like her apartment. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI think that this is in the past we have moved past it. We have mended our relationship and holding on to this is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dem-rep-himes-on-lets-go-brandon-dad-questioning-election-results-this-is-a-deep-cancer-on-our-democracy\/\" title=\"Dem Rep. Himes on 'Let's Go Brandon' Dad Questioning Election Results: This Is a 'Deep Cancer on Our Democracy'\">petty grudge<\/a>.\u201d Jones said. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The defendant concluded, \u201cLet\u2019s move forward. Let\u2019s have a great many more Sunday Fundays without petty male drama\u2026 Forgiveness is great. Grace is great. That\u2019s what I\u2019m asking for here.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">After deliberating, Judge Walsh returned with his wise and fair verdict.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI want to tell you that listening to your squabble has proven to be one of the most immensely unpleasant experiences of my life,\u201d the judge began. \u201cNow, Miss Puharic, you may be upset that Tommy found out what sort of person he was with. But make no mistake that that is what you\u2019re upset about. Not that Miss Jones lied to him, but that she told him the truth.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">He continued, \u201cOn the other hand, Miss Jones, you chose to live with this person. You waited until she was gone to tell the truth about her. You were speaking ill of your friend behind her back. Perhaps she deserves to be spoken of that way. Judge Walsh opened by reminding the plaintiff and defendant that in his courtroom, they have heard \u201carguably the most pivotal cases in American history.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cDoes your case live up to that standard?\u201d Walsh asked.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cArguably,\u201d the plaintiff replied.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Troy Davern went on to describe how he convinced his ex-best friend, Elijah Barney, to move in with him to disastrous results. He said the defendant wound up going to jail and therefore broke his lease and agreement to split everything 50\/50.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThen he goes to jail, and then he\u2019s in jail for 40 days,\u201d Daven said. \u201cAnd this entire time he\u2019s not paying rent at all. Got out. Within days of him being outside of jail, he says he wants to go live with his sister, rent free, which she was already doing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">After asking for clarifying details, Judge Walsh calls out Davern for how he\u2019s answering questions. \u201cWhy are you speaking in riddles? I feel like I\u2019m talking to a Batman villain,\u201d the judge said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There was a fair amount of back and forth to determine the exact amount Davern was suing for, which was eventually determined to be $2,500. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Next, Judge Walsh addressed the defendant. \u201cIt\u2019s been a very complicated path to get us here. But I think amid all the extraneous details, what we\u2019re left with, it sounds like, is that you moved in with a guy and said you\u2019d pay half the rent and you didn\u2019t,\u201d the judge said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI was broke when we moved into the apartment. When I went to jail, I was still broke. So there wasn\u2019t much change that happened other than the fact that I was living in the apartment with Sir Troy,\u201d Barney said. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The defendant described going on a \u201cbender\u201d with the plaintiff which involved both of them getting drunk for six days at a time. Barney said he\u2019d wake up and drink cold beer and do two shots of tequila.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cTequila in the morning. That\u2019s the issue,\u201d Judge Walsh observed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt is an issue,\u201d Barney agreed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cBut my point is, you could avoid that issue by just not doing that,\u201d the judge replied.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI actually think that\u2019s the easiest thing in the world to not do,\u201d Walsh added when Barney claimed it was \u201chard\u201d to avoid. \u201cThere\u2019s nothing that\u2019s easier to avoid than taking two shots.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Davern admitted to funding the benders but said he\u2019d changed his ways and was \u201cfilled with the Holy Spirit.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Then Barney said the situation was further complicated when Davern had sex with his sister a decade prior. Judge Walsh said the story wasn\u2019t relevant to the situation at hand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWhy would I pay rent to someone who had sex with my sister?\u201d Barney asked.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWhy would you move in with him?\u201d Judge Walsh retorted, which inspired a round of laughter from the courtroom.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">After a short deliberation, Judge Walsh came back with a quick and decisive verdict.
