The Disclaimer cautions viewers about language and stereotypes conflicting\u2063 with current inclusivity standards. AMC stated they implemented \u200dsuch advisories four years\u200d ago. Opinions vary, with former Colombo \u200bcrime family member Michael Franzese opposing\u2063 the warning, believing mob figures don&#8217;t\u2063 need protection.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/amc\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">AMC<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  is being mocked for placing a \u201ccultural stereotypes\u201d warning on the classic 1990 Martin Scorsese mobster <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/movies\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">drama<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, \u201cGoodfellas.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Anyone tuning in to the film on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/siriusxm-pandora-cmt-iheartradio-pull-morgan-wallen-music-following-n-word-video-recorded-by-neighbor\/\" title=\"SiriusXM, Pandora, CMT, iHeartRadio Pull Morgan Wallen Music Following N-Word Video Recorded By Neighbor\">streaming service<\/a> AMC+ sees the following message before the movie begins: \u201cThis film includes language and\/or cultural stereotypes that are inconsistent with today\u2019s standards of inclusion and tolerance and may offend some viewers.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">AMC provided <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/05\/18\/us-news\/amc-slaps-goodfellas-with-trigger-warning-for-offensive-content-that-includes-cultural-stereotypes\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The New York Post<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  with a statement about the warning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The company said they started adding this content warning four years ago. \u201cIn 2020, we began adding advisories in front of certain films that include racial or cultural references that some viewers might find offensive,\u201d a rep for AMC wrote.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Several individuals weighed in on the warning. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Michael Franzese, a former captain of the Colombo crime family, told the outlet he didn\u2019t agree with adding the warning. \u201cWe don\u2019t need anyone protecting <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/mafia\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">mob guys<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">,\u201d he told the Post. \u201cIt\u2019s crazy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Former NYPD officer Bo Dietl, who played a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-sheriffs-tell-newsom-they-wont-enforce-covid-curfew\/\" title=\"California Sheriffs Tell Newsom They Won't Enforce COVID Curfew\">police officer<\/a> in \u201cGoodfellas,\u201d also disagreed with the messaging. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe f***ing political correctness has f***ing taken everything away. This is how life was back then. It was not a clean beautiful thing. You can\u2019t cleanse history. If you want to tell true history, you gotta tell it the way it is,\u201d he told the outlet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fans noted that similar films streaming on AMC+, including \u201cThe Godfather,\u201d did not include the same warning. That popular movie about the mob only has the more common and generic \u201cviewer discretion\u201d language that mentions \u201cbrief nudity, strong language, and intense violence.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cGoodfellas\u201d is considered one of the best mob movies ever made. Actor Joe Pesci received an Academy Award for his portrayal of the gangster Tommy DeVito. The film also features Robert De Niro, Ray Liotta, and Paul Sorvino.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The United States Library of Congress classified the film \u201cculturally significant\u201d and added it to the National Film Registry in 2000.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Other studios are also adding content warnings to older movies.
