Res. 58, is scheduled for a vote Tuesday evening in the Senate. Sen. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/ted-cruz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Ted Cruz\">Ted Cruz<\/a> (R-TX) is the primary sponsor and says the rule would effectively ban all noncondensing furnace models, forcing people to convert to electric heat pumps.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis administration doesn\u2019t care that their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-now-supports-ending-filibuster-held-meeting-on-how-big-fast-he-can-jam-through-agenda-report\/\" title=\"Biden Now Supports Ending Filibuster, Held Meeting On How \u2018Big,\u2019 \u2018Fast\u2019 He Can \u2018Jam Through\u2019 Agenda: Report\">radical climate agenda<\/a> will have a catastrophic impact on American families and small businesses,\u201d Cruz <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cruz.senate.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\/sen-cruz-introduces-resolution-to-block-biden-administration-latest-climate-rule-to-ban-inexpensive-gas-furnaces\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"said\">said<\/a>. \u201cEliminating all non-condensing natural gas furnaces will only serve to further hurt families who are already struggling to get by.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But Biden argues that the standards will save people money as the rule requires manufacturers to sell only furnaces that convert at least 95% of fuel into heat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[The Department of Energy] determined that these standards will result in significant conservation of energy, are technologically feasible, and economically justified,\u201d Biden\u2019s veto threat reads, \u201cproviding an estimated $1.5 billion each year in savings on household utility bills\u2014with an average household that upgrades from a legacy model saving an estimated $500 over the new furnace\u2019s lifetime.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The veto threat means the bill almost certainly will not become law.<\/p>\n<p>Congressional Republicans and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/biden-administration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Biden administration\">Biden administration<\/a> have sparred for much of his first term over appliance regulations, most notably gas stoves, which became a national story last year when an administration official suggested they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2090009\/agency-to-consider-federal-ban-of-gas-stoves-over-health-hazards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Biden administration\">could be banned<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While that has not happened at the federal level, moves to ban gas stoves <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2569667\/new-york-becomes-first-state-to-pass-gas-and-fossil-fuel-ban\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"are advancing\">are advancing<\/a> in Democratic-controlled states.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The DOE\u2019s gas furnace regulations are not a ban, though Republicans argue the efficiency standards are so strict that they will amount to one practice. Biden, however, says the rule will help consumers. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cPassage of S.J. Res. 58 would eliminate these commonsense energy efficiency standards that promote choices for consumers to help them save money, prevent waste of electricity and gas, and strengthen energy security,\u201d the White House statement reads. \u201cIf the president were presented with S.J.
