The judge was hand-picked for the case, \u200draising concerns\u200d among observers. And the fact that it is \u2018de minimis\u2019 or small, really, I think, misses the point. You make donations like that to show your support, that\u2019s what that $15 did. \u201c<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWhat\u2019s also concerning for many is that Merchan was not randomly selected; he was hand-picked as the judge for this case, and many of us don\u2019t understand it,\u201d he continued. \u201cYou\u2019ve got a judge who is a donor to the president, whose daughter is a major Democratic operative, you would think this would be an easy call. There are plenty of other judges.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Merchan\u2019s daughter Loren serves as president of the political consulting firm Authentic Campaigns, which represents Rep. Donald Trump did not commit an election violation. There\u2019s no such violation in this case connected to his payments to [Michael] Cohen.
