Douglas Golden<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   May 21, 2024 at 4:23am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>What kind of White House transgression merits the punishment of being given the Herculean task of correcting the official transcripts of President Joe Biden\u2019s speech for official release?<\/p>\n<p>Making fun of Kamala\u2019s laugh? Biting Joe\u2019s German shepherd back <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/emails-reveal-bidens-dog-much-aggressive-thought-kept-white-house-despite-straight-week-attacks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">when it bites you<\/a>? Heck, if we find out who\u2019s currently editing the transcripts, we can possibly deduce whose bag of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/cocaine-fiasco-far-first-white-house-drug-story-many\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">magic Colombian powder<\/a> the Secret Service found in a restricted area of the White House.<\/p>\n<p>The problems posed by this thankless job\u00a0 \u2014 which can\u2019t just be outsourced to artificial intelligence transcription software, given the president\u2019s penchant for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-stumbles-badly-white-house-transcript-people-cant-even-make-sense-beer-brewed-gaffe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unintelligility and senile moments<\/a> \u2014 presented themselves again on Monday, when no less than eight points had to be corrected with strikethroughs and bracketed corrections after a gaffe-filled Biden campaign speech Sunday night before the Detroit branch of the NAACP.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t feel tired, I feel inspired!\u201d Biden loudly declared to kick off his remarks. That inspiration apparently quickly left him, along with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-goes-completely-incoherent-wisconsin-event-worse-usual\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">coherence<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Take his remarks less than a minute later: \u201cAnd when I was vice president, things were kind of bad during the pandemic, and what happened was Barack said to me, \u2018Go to Detroit and help fix it.\u2019\u00a0 Well, poor mayor, he spent more time with me than he ever thought he was going to have to,\u201d Biden said.<\/p>\n<p>Biden, as you may recall, was the vice president from January 2009 to January 2017; the coronavirus pandemic struck <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-makes-ridiculous-gaffe-suggests-vp-covid-years-trump-president\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the U.S. in 2020<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">BIDEN: \u201cWhen I was vice president, things were kinda bad during the pandemic\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>(Biden was not vice president during the pandemic) <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/McZXfjgr2u\">pic.twitter.com\/McZXfjgr2u<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 RNC Research (@RNCResearch) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RNCResearch\/status\/1792345714980258025?\">May 20, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>White House <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2024\/05\/19\/remarks-by-president-biden-at-a-campaign-event-detroit-mi-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">transcript<\/a>: \u201cAnd when I was vice president, things were kind of bad during the <del>pandemic<\/del> [recession].\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Should Biden\u2019s mental state be a major concern for the country?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Oh, but he was just getting warmed up. I\u2019ll just post the edited quotes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-stumbles-badly-white-house-transcript-people-cant-even-make-sense-beer-brewed-gaffe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">from the transcript<\/a>, which speak for themselves most times.<\/p>\n<p>At 1:30 (on being given the organization\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nbc-news-anchor-fairness-is-overrated\/\" title=\"NBC News Anchor: \u2018Fairness Is Overrated\u2019\">lifetime achievement award<\/a>): \u201cFolks, I\u2019m humbled to receive this <del>organization<\/del> [award], which defines the character and consequence of what we do.\u00a0 I\u2019m always grateful to Derrick Johnson, the leadership for the NAACP.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At 2:40: \u201cLook, folks, I just came from Atlanta, where I delivered a commencement at Morehouse College. (Applause.) It was truly <del>inspiresing<\/del> [inspiring]: over 400 young Black men who will do extraordinary things.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Then, he took a nearly three-minute break before this stumble at 5:30: \u201cOn my watch, more Black Americans have health insurance than ever in all of history.\u00a0 I protected and expanded the Affordable Care Act, saving millions of families $800,000 in prem- \u2014 <del>$8,000<\/del> [$800]  in \u2014 a year in premiums.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Then, a minute later, he accidentally implied his administration was going after those responsible for low rents: \u201cWe\u2019re increasing access to capital to start business and loans to buy homes. We\u2019re cracking down on corporate landlords <del>who<\/del> [to]  keep rents down.\u00a0 Our policies are resulting in historic lows of Black unemployment.\u00a0 Black small businesses are starting up at the fastest rate they have in 30 years. We\u2019re opening the doors to generational wealth. In fact, the racial wealth gap is its lowest level in 20 years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Whoops.<\/p>\n<p>Still getting warmed up, though. At 10:40: \u201c[Donald Trump] brags about getting Roe v. Wade overturned.\u00a0 He not only denies reproductive freedom but worsens the mortality rate for black moms, who <del>have<\/del> [are]  nearly three times more likely to die from pregnancy complications than a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/she-accused-him-of-sexual-assault-the-school-said-she-wasnt-incapacitated-but-did-not-consent-when-she-said-yes\/\" title=\"She Accused Him Of Sexual Assault. The School Said She Wasn\u2019t Incapacitated But Did Not Consent When She Said \u2018Yes.\u2019\">white woman<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That was just ungrammatical, however. At least all of them were words. The next strikethrough, also in regards Trump, came at 13:10: \u201cJust listen to him. He calls the <del>irrectionists<\/del> [insurrectionists]  who stormed Capitol Hill \u2018patriots.\u2019\u00a0 He says, if reelected, he wants, quote, \u2018every\u2019 one of them pardoned.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Again about Trump, this time repeating the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-campaign-gets-caught-trying-spin-another-bloodbath-style-hoax-trump-deceptive-edit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bloodbath<\/a>\u201d lie while getting the word wrong, one minute later: \u201cBut that\u2019s not Donald Trump. Donald Trump has said, if he loses again in November, there will be, quote, <del>\u2018bloodshed\u2019<\/del> [\u2018bloodbath\u2019]. What in God\u2019s name are we talking about here? This is the United States of America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What in God\u2019s name is <em>he<\/em> talking about, anyway? Even he\u2019s wondering. He knows what country he\u2019s in, which is actually pretty good for Biden, but that\u2019s about it.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, in closing: \u201cEarlier this month, I posthumously awarded [slain civil rights leader] Medgar Evers the Presidential Medal of Freedom, our nation\u2019s highest civilian honor.\u00a0 (Applause.) His <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/15-patriotic-movie-moments-that-will-make-you-proud-to-be-an-american\/\" title=\"15 Patriotic Movie Moments That Will Make You Proud To Be An American\">spirit endures<\/a>. The <del>NAAC<\/del> [NAACP]  spirit endures.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The debacle in full:<\/p>\n<p> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"President Biden speaks at NAACP Fight for Freedom Fund Dinner\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/E-5kdMAzCeE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Not that this is anything new, nor even a new low, but the frequency of the edits to transcripts raises the question of who is calling the shots at 1600 Pennsylvania when this guy is nominally in charge, yet can\u2019t even remember who was vice president during the start of the COVID pandemic (it wasn\u2019t him).<\/p>\n<p>To get a good sense of how Augean the stables that the White House transcript editor needs to clean out are, look at the fine plastic surgery they did on this bit of incoherency from 2022:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Is everything okay?<\/p>\n<p>We carried Presdient Biden\u2019s Ukraine remarks live on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FaulknerFocus?\">@FaulknerFocus<\/a> today. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/kleptocracy?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#kleptocracy<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/aINZImChEy\">pic.twitter.com\/aINZImChEy<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 HARRISFAULKNER (@HARRISFAULKNER) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/HARRISFAULKNER\/status\/1519832521424449538?\">April 29, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/white-house-tries-fix-latest-biden-gaffe-official-transcript-still-looks-like-jumble-nonsense\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">official remarks<\/a>: \u201cIn addition to this supplemental funding, I\u2019m also sending to Congress a comprehensive package of \u2014 that will enhance our underlying effort to <del>accommodate<\/del> [hold accountable]  the Russian oligarchs and make sure we take their \u2014 take their ill-begotten gains,\u201d the transcript read.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHa, we\u2019re going to \u2018accommodate\u2019 them,\u201d the transcript continued. \u201cWe\u2019re going to seize their yachts, their luxury homes, and other ill-begotten gains of Putin\u2019s kleptoc- \u2014 yeah \u2014 kleptocracy and klep- \u2014 the guys who are the kleptocracies. (Laughs.)\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I understand starting from the bottom when you enter politics, but editing Joe Biden for official consumption is blatant workplace abuse. It\u2019s time to stop the cycle of violence. Just post whatever the transcription software spits out and be done with it, folks at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/sign-times-drag-queens-take-national-mall-create-spectacle-lincoln-memorial-white-house\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">White House<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019d be a lot more entertaining that way, to boot.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>I heard a chilling comment the other day: \u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>That wasn\u2019t said by a conspiracy theorist or a doomsday prophet.
