The diplomat blames U.S. sanctions\u200b for forcing Raisi to travel in an old\u2063 helicopter, labeling the incident as \u2064part of the &#8216;Black List&#8217; of \u2064American offenses against Iran. former Iranian diplomat is putting some of the blame for the Sunday death of the country\u2019s president at the feet of the United States, according to a report.<\/p>\n<p>Iranian President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/breaking-helicopter-carrying-iranian-president-involved-major-incident-situation-uncertain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ebrahim Raisi<\/a> was traveling with Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and six other individuals when the helicopter they were traveling in crashed into a mountain in the country\u2019s northwest near Iran\u2019s border with Azerbaijan.<\/p>\n<p>State Department spokesman Matt Miller offered \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=FJ_jwwURkAA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">condolences<\/a>\u201d on behalf of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/us-us-government-sent-hundreds-millions-dollars-gaza-since-hamas-took-control\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. government<\/a> upon hearing the news.<\/p>\n<p>But it did not take long for one former Iranian official to point the finger at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-admin-planning-roll-cards-illegal-immigrants-summer-10000-cards-first-round-issue-across-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Washington<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Citing Iranian state media, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/ebrahim-raisi-iran-president-death-us-sanctions-blame-former-minister-2024-5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Business Insider<\/a> reported on Monday morning that the country\u2019s former foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, blamed U.S. sanctions that prevent the country from buying newer aircraft for forcing Raisi and the others to fly in a decades-old Bell 212 chopper.<\/p>\n<p>The helicopters were made in the U.S. between 1968 and 1998.<\/p>\n<p>It was not clear what year the model Raisi was traveling in when it went down on Sunday, but Zarif told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/iranian-professor-makes-frightening-prediction-anti-israel-protesters-college-campuses-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">his country\u2019s<\/a> media that U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ayatollah-iran-in-no-hurry-to-see-u-s-return-to-nuclear-deal\/\" title=\"Ayatollah: Iran in no hurry to see U.S. return to nuclear deal\">sanctions imposed<\/a> in 1979 after the Iranian Revolution have kept the country from operating fleets of modern aircraft.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cdc-to-release-revised-guidance-reducing-covid-19-quarantine-time-from-14-days-to-7-10\/\" title=\"CDC to release revised guidance reducing COVID-19 quarantine time from 14 days to 7-10\">official told<\/a> an Iranian TV station that Raisi\u2019s death in the outdated chopper would be \u201crecorded in the black list of American crimes against the Iranian nation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/iran-president-ebrahim-raisi-426c6f4ae2dd1f0801c73875bb696f48#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Associated Press<\/a> spoke to Zarif on Monday and he doubled down on blaming America for the crash.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Is Iran one of the biggest threats to U.S. security?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cOne of the main culprits of yesterday\u2019s tragedy is the United States, which \u2026 embargoed the sale of aircraft and aviation parts to Iran and does not allow the people of Iran to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/who-was-iranian-president-ebrahim-raisi-and-what-happens-after-his-death\/\" title=\"Learn about the late Iranian President, Ebrahim Raisi, and the aftermath of his passing\">enjoy good aviation facilities<\/a>,\u201d he told the AP.<\/p>\n<p>The wire service reported Bell 212 helicopters such as the one that killed Raisi are commonly used by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-bidens-attempt-appease-iran-off-rocky-start-tehran-rebuffs-overtures\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tehran<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Iran\u2019s aircraft are outdated, and flights often take off without safety checks that are routine in countries with more up-to-date aviation sectors.<\/p>\n<p>At least 15 Bell 212 helicopters with an average age of 35 years old are believed to be operating in the country, according to the AP.<\/p>\n<p>Because sanctions prevent Iran from ordering newer aircraft, parts for repairs for the choppers are often purchased on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-cant-admit-the-border-crisis-is-spiraling-out-of-control\/\" title=\"Democrats refuse to acknowledge the escalating border crisis\">international black market<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>No official cause for Sunday\u2019s crash has been announced.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/world\/2024\/05\/20\/iran-ebrahim-raisi-helicopter-crash\/73766077007\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">USA Today<\/a> reported the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-ceo-major-nigerian-bank-killed-california-helicopter-crash-director-general-wto-says\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">helicopter<\/a> that crashed was one of three traveling together in a convoy.<\/p>\n<p>The three choppers were navigating the mountainous region in heavy fog and in \u201cblizzard conditions,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n<p>After a search that began on Sunday, the remains of Raisi and the seven others were located early Monday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Raisi came to power in 2021 and was viewed by many as a successor to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/middle-east\/hopes-fade-wreckage-found-helicopter-carrying-iranian-president-raisi-2024-05-20\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reuters<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-iranians-break-celebration-notoriously-brutal-president-confirmed-dead\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Celebrations<\/a> broke out after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/helicopter-crash-confirmed-location-iranian-president-unknown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the
