Tapia hopes her case encourages others \u2063to stand up for\u200d truth in\u200c education.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>A Southern California school district is set to pay $360,000 to a teacher who was fired last year for refusing to follow the district\u2019s transgender policies.<\/p>\n<p>The Jurupa Unified School District settled a lawsuit from Jessica Tapia, agreeing to pay $285,000 plus $75,000 more to cover her attorneys\u2019 fees.<\/p>\n<p>Tapia filed a wrongful termination lawsuit last year, accusing the district of religious discrimination in firing her after she refused to comply with several of the district\u2019s policies on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/florida-school-district-will-require-students-to-use-bathroom-of-biological-sex-after-court-ruling\/\" title=\"Florida School District Will Require Students To Use Bathroom Of Biological Sex After Court Ruling\">trans-identifying students<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The district required teachers to use students\u2019 desired pronouns, allow trans-identifying students to use the bathrooms and locker rooms of the opposite sex, and barred them from expressing religious beliefs with students or on social media.<\/p>\n<p>The district <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/nbc-out\/out-news\/california-district-pay-360k-teacher-fired-not-transgender-policies-rcna152772\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> it \u201ccontinues to deny any illegal action or discrimination\u201d against Tapia and \u201chas not admitted any fault or wrongdoing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, the district said it was settling the lawsuit \u201cin the best interest of the students,\u201d so the district \u201ccan continue to dedicate all of its resources and efforts to educate and support its student population regardless of their protected class.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tapia reacted to the settlement in a statement, saying she hopes other teachers have the confidence to \u201ceducate in truth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cWhat happened to me can happen to anybody, and I want the next teacher to know that it<br \/> is worth it to take a stand for what is right,\u201d Tapia said in a statement after the settlement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cAcross the country, we are seeing teachers\u2019 freedom of speech and religious liberty violated through policies that require them to forsake their morals.
