Katie Boyd Britt and Ted Cruz <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cruz.senate.gov\/imo\/media\/doc\/2024.05.17%20--%20IVF%20Protection%20Act%20(LYN24343)1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">introduced a bill<\/a> on Monday that would effectively force states that contemplate a ban on in vitro fertilization (IVF) to choose between reining in one of the most profitable, unethical, unborn life-destroying practices on the market and keeping Medicaid funding. <\/p>\n<p>The legislation claims states are not barred from \u201cimplementing health and safety standards regarding the practice of in vitro fertilization.\u201d Any state or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/11th-circuit-asks-florida-supreme-court-to-define-terms-of-anti-riot-law\/\" title=\"11th Circuit Asks Florida Supreme Court to Define Terms of Anti-Riot Law\">local government body<\/a> that explores prohibiting IVF (something no state has seriously considered), however, will face the wrath of those who control the federal pocketbook. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1396685430\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-392edabed129439974288b8a3feb5e69 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-392edabed129439974288b8a3feb5e69\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cOur goal is to make sure that any family\u2019s path to bringing a child into the world isn\u2019t compromised by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cruz-and-britt-to-introduce-bill-to-cut-off-medicaid-funding-for-states-banning-ivf\/\" title=\"Cruz and Britt propose bill to halt Medicaid funds for states opposing IVF\">preventable legal confusion<\/a>,\u201d the senators <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/well-protect-both-life-and-ivf-81e2bf1f\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pro-Life Picking and Choosing<\/h2>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/well-protect-both-life-and-ivf-81e2bf1f\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Wall Street Journal<\/a> opinion article meant to promote the bill, Britt and Cruz argued they are committed to protecting \u201cBoth Life and IVF.\u201d Yet, throughout their legislative pitch, the Republicans failed to explain exactly how carving out federal protections for a practice responsible for the discard of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.catholicnewsagency.com\/news\/257066\/more-human-embryos-destroyed-through-ivf-than-abortion-every-year\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">millions of embryos<\/a> constitutes safeguarding \u201clife.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Britt and Cruz both acknowledged the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/02\/20\/what-the-alabama-supreme-courts-ruling-on-frozen-embryos-means-for-big-fertility\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Alamaba Supreme Court\u2019s recent ruling<\/a>, which confirmed the state\u2019s Wrongful Death of a Minor Act \u201capplies to all unborn children, regardless of their location,\u201d was marred by \u201cconfusion and misinformation.\u201d Instead of offering an indictment of the corporate media and \u201cpartisan\u201d commentators who <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/02\/23\/fearmongering-about-alabama-supreme-court-embryo-ruling-obscures-truth-about-reproductive-tech\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">incited the political panic<\/a>, however, Britt and Cruz egged on fomented concern with promises to \u201censure IVF access is legally protected nationwide.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Republicans justified the introduction of the bill with poll numbers claiming IVF is wildly popular among Americans and framing the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/12\/14\/we-need-to-get-serious-about-meeting-advances-in-reproductive-tech-with-an-actionable-moral-framework\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">morally debated technology<\/a> as a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cruz.senate.gov\/imo\/media\/doc\/2024.05.17%20--%20IVF%20Protection%20Act%20(LYN24343)1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pro-woman and pro-family solution<\/a>\u201d because it can end in the birth of a child.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-93719897d201e2f5826bfd31d5ea01cc fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-93719897d201e2f5826bfd31d5ea01cc\"><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.al.com\/news\/2022\/05\/senate-candidate-katie-britt-defends-pro-life-stance-after-durant-ad-blasts-her-about-ua-pregnancy-prevention-pills.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Britt<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msnbc.com\/msnbc\/cruz-refuses-answer-personhood-during-msnbc-town-hall-msna832571\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cruz<\/a> both claim to believe life begins at conception and should be protected. They seem eager to overlook, however, the reckless disregard for that life as long as it is the product of a lab.<\/p>\n<p>IVF standard practice requires harvesting and fertilizing multiple eggs to increase the chances of successful petri dish conception. Since Americans undergo <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/art\/artdata\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hundreds of thousands of IVF cycles per year<\/a>, it\u2019s no stretch to say countless unborn lives are created only to be pushed aside due to genetic <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/05\/07\/orchid-healths-genome-testing-promises-healthy-babies-but-delivers-morally-deplorable-eugenics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">grading<\/a>, discarded, or <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/02\/02\/theres-only-one-way-for-the-1-million-embryos-stuck-in-frozen-orphanages-to-make-it-out-alive-adoption\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">abandoned in freezers<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>It would be one thing if the Republicans were calling for even the most basic regulation of IVF.
